I know some variation of this thread has been done before, but let's do it again.

It doesn't have to be the most famous or any other competition, just the coolest to you.

Meh, the Dallas mayor has always seemed a little milquetoast and boring to me.

Merle Haggard at Tin Hall was pretty cool. Felt pretty sure he was just an old guy totally comfortable meeting strangers. He should have named his band The Strangers.

just on music, I'd go with John Paul Jones. On coolness, maybe Steve Tyler depending on how he acted. either one would be legendary.

Talked to Drew Brees for 15-20 minutes 10 years ago. Guy really wanted to be an Aggie.

Emory Bellard, RC, Jackie, Spike. All great guys.

Bellamy Brothers before a concert. My favorite country group.

Lt Dan in Iraq. He was there for an event but my mission went long (TIC) so I figured I missed it. He was leaving and i said sorry I missed you and I missed chow then he just sat down and we visited for sometime. Such a cool guy. I gave him my flight patch.

Not super famous but Carter Beauford and Victor Wooten when I was in high school. Not at the same time but at the same convention.

Victor Wooten was teaching a clinic and a friend and I stayed back to ask some questions. We ended up jammin' with him for a solid 2 hours and he didn't care that he was lightyears beyond our skills.

Carter Beauford walked into a sound proof cymbal test room while I was drumming and trying out some new cymbals I had no chance of affording. He's one of my top 2-3 favorite drummers and who I model my play style after the most, so it was definitely a case of meeting your hero at that age. He was extremely down to Earth and approachable.

George W. Bush. On a first name basis with him.

Spent the day with Saoirse Ronan in Dublin hanging out. I knew some of her relatives there. She'd just finished filming Brooklyn at the time. Super cool girl and really sweet. Lot of fun to spend time with

not as famous as those above but I got to chat a bit with W.C. Clark (Stevie Ray Vaughen/Triple Threat Review) one night at a bar near northgate. A fight had broke out on the floor while he was playing and I told him that was not the norm here. it's usually a pretty chill bar. He just said hey, man, that's how I know I'm in Texas!

guess id have to say Bush Sr and Barbara Bush

i worked at the Rec Center for a few years and if you were in early enough on a saturday he'd come in and ride the bike and read the paper.....he'd chat with us at the training desk a bit and always leave his gym bag back there.....

of course theres a few suits around while hes in there but there was never an issue and he'd always love it when students would approach him...

one time i was with a client in there and he was on the bikes near us and my client recognized him....i kept encouraging her to go over and say hi cause he'd love to chat with her but she was too nervous....

Brittany Howard in the TSA line at Nashville Airport.

I'd say Dave Ramsey while doing our debt free scream on his radio show but not sure he qualifies as cool. We think he's cool.

They all were cool. Eddie was super quick and he didn't really say much but it was a huge thrill for me to shake his hand. Jonesy chatted the longest. Tyler was joking around with me which was fun. Kravitz was such a sweet guy. He just oozed rock star more than any of them but didn't act like he was better than anyone in the room.

Probably the coolest famous person was Robert Gates. When I was at A&M, we had a cookout during an away game in Spence Park. We went over and knocked on his front door and invited him over. About 30 minutes later, he came out and was very engaging with us.

I met Sean Connery one time when I was a little boy. He was walking down the street as was my family. Taking the opportunity I walked up to him and said, "Mr. Connery! You were great in The Last Crusade!" He without hesitation or a loss in step looked at me and said, "**** off little boy!" We all laughed as he ambled down the street. That dude is a G!

That would've been neat. If you're a Letterman fan, I did meet Rupert G and eat in the Hello Deli. The sandwich was really good and cheap compared to other Times Square options. And Rupert was nice.
