Good for them for trying this.
I agree with all this. I thought this week's story was one of the weaker ones. But it was still enjoyable seeing the characters and their development.bobinator said:
This season is really fun, just caught the last two episodes.
This show has found that magic that TOS and TNG had of having a fun group of characters and then mixing them up in different subgroups and just giving them a different sandbox to play in each week. Sometimes it's silly and sometimes it's more serious, but just a fun watch.
You just get that feeling that, after the musical, things are going to go really dark.javajaws said:
OMG that might have been the best episode of this series. The casting for Boimler was great, I wish he was a permanent part of the show.
This whole season has been filled with some fun episodes and a few that have given me TOS vibes. I also wonder how much of an influence The Orville has had in this new take on Star Trek?
Ransom, who is played by Jerry O'Connell, who is married to...Rebecca Romijn.MGS said:
They certainly made Strange New Worlds feel like an episode of Lower Decks with all of the references to other Star Trek characters and events. (Anybody else catch the line from Ransom that Una was the hottest first officer ever?)
Well, it was certainly very dark. Just happened earlier than I thoughtmalenurse said:You just get that feeling that, after the musical, things are going to go really dark.javajaws said:

The Gorn episode is coming.
Hoping Pelia gets smoked.
Opens the way for a certain, Scottish, engineer.
I think I rewatched that clip like 10 times.javajaws said:
This episode was sponsored by the Klingon Solid Gold Dancers!
I don't care what you'll think, I thought that was great! An episode that you'll love or hate for sure.
It worked surprisingly well. I was honestly shocked at how well the cast sang, especially Anson Mount and Ethan Peck.Geddy Lee soul patch said:
LOL, I'm generally not a musical fan but somehow I enjoyed that episode.

Jess Bush is one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen.Mathguy64 said:
Well that was different. They actually did a good job of making the lyrics very sciency. And if anything it made Nurse Chapel even hotter.
No doubt. But I had read that a few of the main cast had singing/musical experience already. It was really somewhat of a miracle/coincidence that they had enough that can sing. I doubt you'll see such a musical in any other series any time soon.Mathguy64 said:Goro Majima said:It worked surprisingly well. Auto tune is a powerful tool.
Yep. That was pretty far out there, but I was into it! I completely LOL'ed at Spock saying "I doubt we will be bunnies"Geddy Lee soul patch said:
