So if y'all look at the actual methodology, it's literally just weighted based on asking a bunch of prominent folks in the games industry and adjacent (designers, journalists, streamers) what their top 10 games are. There's no other qualifier, so a lot of y'all are raging against an aggregate of top 10 lists that would be just as different as if we ran the same exercise with people on this site (given the responses here, I think we'd see similar wackiness if we tried to aggregate our own lists).
None of these Experts played sports.

No Team sports games at all.

The only two halfway sportish on the list were Street Fighter II and Tony Hawk

Not to mention Wii Sports, which definitely has a place in the top 100 conversation.

Metroid Prime at 75 seems low.

Here's a question...would you rate Prime > Super Metroid?

This is a toughy!
Love both of these. Prime was my intro to the series, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The recent Remaster was amazing though and that game still holds up.

I played Super Metroid for the first time in the lead up to Dread, and absolutely got the hype. It's worthy of every bit of the legacy its left behind.

Personally I think they're both near perfect games. And both have amazing soundtracks, too.

Long way of saying...I don't know if I can choose.

Ocarina and Goldeneye were the landscape changers! They should be top 5.

I am going to get some disagreement, even from my own self because I hate the game...however, Pac Man should be #1. Pac Man is what really got the gaming scene moving!

The original Zelda should be top 5 also. Again, landscape changer!

The only Mario game I would consider...the original Mario Kart. While we are on it...the best sports game...Tyson? NCCA Football 2010ish? Big Show? Forza?
I was with you up to this point. If you're going to talk about landscape changers...you can't not mention Super Mario 64. Almost every 3D game that's ever come out after 1996 owes at least some debt to that game.

I mean, with those, you're comparing games that are rushed out annually with minimal improvements to fully realized games that have had years and years put into them for a single release. Like, I play a ton of sports games myself, but I would never put any in my top 10, or even my top 20. To me, they're comfort games. If I want to turn off my brain and envision a world where the Aggies or any other team I follow actually win something significant, I'll play one, but nothing about them speaks amongst the greatest games of all time to me.

That is fair. In all honesty...I don't play video games like I used to play which is why most of my discussion is from the 80's and 90's. Therefore, anything after about 2000, I have very little solid experience. Mario64 was not a game I played much. I agree that the whole, "world," them was a Mario 64 creation.

My two sons play, and I will play with them from time to time, but I just don't have the desire to sit and play like when I was younger.

Tropico!

I think I remember that one...What I remember most is that there was some boat or spaceship that had a computer you had to put a secret code into. The code was 3 digits and the code was found either on the inside of the box or the instruction manual. I somehow lost the code and had no way to input so I did what any young boy with plenty of time would do...I tried all 1000 numbers. None of them worked! I was ticked!!!

Edit - I just looked it up and totally had the wrong game. I was thinking of Star Tropics. :/
Yeah ... Tropico was a world builder game where you are El Presidente of a tropical island. You had to balance economic growth with freedom, etc. It was a pretty innocent game but you could actually use your soldiers to shoot dissidents. And it had a great soundtrack.

"El Presidente ... your people. They starve!"

This doesn't make sense with the rest of your post. No game changed the video game industry the way the original Super Mario Bros did. Its more important than Pac-Man, Zelda and way more important than Mario Kart.

This is a fun thread and obviously it's biased, but Myst needs to be somewhere. I've played all sorts of racing/sporting/RPG/FPS games over the years, but playing Myst with my mom when I was a little kid was seriously a great time.

That list is full of games I've never heard of, and there's multiple Pokemon games? What?

So Super Mario Kart is at spot 90...where's Mario Kart 64 or Mario Kart 8? Both of those are so much better.
Horizon Zero Dawn didn't make the list?
Spider-Man?
Gran-Turismo?
Myst?
Mortal Kombat?

You don't play video games much if this is a list full of games you've never heard of. Out of the 100, I've never heard of 3. I've played at least 90% of the games on this list.
I don't play a lot, and this list is full of games i haven't actually played, but there's still only 3 games that i've never heard of..

Sounds like we could make a second top-100 of games not included in this top-100. I think GQ got most of the good'ns but there are a lot of building blocks to pay tribute to.

One last bump. If you don't vote, you don't get to complain when your favorite game isn't there.

I'm with you and TeleAg. Way too hard to come up with my own top 10 in order. Would take a lot of thinking/time.

KOTOR is near the top for me though.

Couple games I have a tough time choosing an edition or number from, e.g. MW1,2,3,4; Mass Effect 1,2,3.

In my brief thinking, for me personally some no brainers are KOTOR and Goldeneye. But there are some random games that were way more fun or memorable to me that realistically don't belong anywhere near a consensus list. Goof Troop and Kirby's Dream Course on SNES come to mind.

That, include some sports and bro shooters, and move the average release year back by about 15 years

Sounds about right for a college sports website with most users around 40 years old.

I'm curious how many responses made up the list. There is a game on this list that I included that I was sure no one else would have in their top 10. Were any of the top 100 only a single inclusion?

Too many pansies on this board, dropping Bloodborne down.

Also, there must be too many kids on this board as well, because Pokemon Red/Blue should be higher. Very few games truly floored me the first time I played them like Pokemon Red, back in the 90's. It was revolutionary.
