This is starting to sound like my wedding, where any plans of keeping it below 100 went out the window when I realized we had 72 "you gotta invite Aunt Gail" obligation picks. I feel like GQ (consciously or not) tried to keep it to a handful of RTS games, a handful of shooters, a handful of Marios and Zeldas but not too many, etc.
Other than a few weird obscure indie games, I think they did pretty good. Otherwise 10% of your list is Doom, Quake, Unreal, Duke Nukem, GoldenEye, etc. and you don't have room for the newer Dooms, Halo, Halo 3, etc... all of which are probably a lot more fun to play.
It's just funny going through those lists sometimes... ain't nobody playing Ultima from 1992 and saying it's top-100 in 2023, other than for legitimacy points.
