Didn't watch it much at all in its on-air first run.

Some friends had me watch a couple episodes but I didn't make much time for tv then.

Caught it on reruns later and enjoyed what I saw but didn't make it appointment viewing or anything.

My wife got the Season 2 dvds for me as a stocking stuffer for Christmas probably ten years ago. Half-price Books had it for $5 or something. I watched the crud out of it and then bought other seasons.

I don't enjoy the seasons without Michael but the finale was good.

My brother had watched the British version and hyped me up on the American version. The first episode I saw was the Booze Cruise in Season 2, which became really bizarre since Rob Riggle was on it, and I wound up meeting him while he was working for the Daily Show a few months later when he came to Texas to do a piece. That enabled me to become Chris Farley and say, "Hey, you remember that time you were on the Office? That was awesome."

It became the first "must-see" show for my wife and I when we started dating, We got married a few months before the Jim & Pam wedding, and I contend to this day that it should have been the series finale - Jim & Pam happy, Dwight has hooked up with one of Pam's friends, and the closing shot of MIchael going to bang Pam's mom is a great "fill in your own conclusion" moment.

While it wasn't as bad as Game of Thrones, they clearly had no idea what to do afterewards with the weird transition from the Will Ferrell cameo to what was a promising start with James Spader to limp-dick Andy Bernard in charge. Somewhere in there, I stopped being in front of the TV at the exact moment it came on every Thursday, probably when the British lady joined the cast - I'm sure she's funny in other stuff, but I found her just godawful. Then there was some sub-plot where some camera guy was in love with Pam and then some intern wanted to bang Jim? Angela married a gay politician who possibly slept with Oscar, and I really don't remember the rest. The finale was really nice, especially with Michael coming back, along with Ryan and Kelly, but after Carrell left it was just aimless wandering. Still a marvelous show that I have quoted, giffed, memed, for a couple of decades.

I had my kids - both 11 - watch a few clips of some of the safer humor and they loved it, particularly Dwight's snowball-geddon assault of Jim.

Free the first season, we heard about 40 year old version.

The first episode we saw was the George Foran grill and we were hooked.

I still put it on when nothing is on tv.

Hearing that the last two seasons suck...sucks because I am watching it for the first time right now and am on season 5. The reason it took me so long to start watching even though I knew I would love it is because of the daunting number of episodes. But I recently finished all the series that I wanted to watch with smaller episode totals, so finally decided to take on the Office!

I don't think the final 2 seasons sucked. They were weren't as good as before. To be real, season 5-6 we're a step down from 2-4. But some iconic episodes still took place in between. I'd argue there were ever only 2-3 episodes that were just not good (Shrute Farms, Flash Back Episode, boom mic guy). I also think the final season was an improvement from 2nd to last. In perfect office fashion they stuck the landed with an epic finale.

It was nothing like a Dexter or GoT that completely went off the rails.

Watching seasons 8 and 9 originally when they came out I was pretty disappointed, save for the last few and the finale. Nelly was a fantastically bad character, and when they had a perfect chance to remove her after Tallahassee for some reason they doubled down and brought her to Scranton. Never made sense.

That said now watching just as stand alone episodes they still got a lot of things right. Robert California and Clark were both very good additions. Dwight becoming a badass was fun to watch. Daryl, Stanley, Nate, and few other smaller roles had some good bits. Overall they stuck the landing but it was definitely up and down getting there.

As much as I like Will Ferrell, probably some of his worst work. I hated it

I honestly don't think I watched more than a handful of episodes once Michael left.

I just wasn't the same show with Robert California and whoever Idris was.

They should have hired Bob Odenkirk to replace Michael Scott. Him showing up in like the last episode was like...dang he would have crushed it.

He was interviewed to play Michael right?

Carell was the first pick but had another show and couldn't commit so they were going to go with Odenkirk. Carells other show was cancelled so they were able to go with him and passed on Odenkirk.

The Idris Elba episodes are very funny, and have my favorite under the radar Office trope - uncomfortable Jim when he's dicking around and it blows up in his face, like wearing the tux to work on the day Charles shows up.

The lightning and music on this thing are amazing.

Idris Elba and Will Ferrell were on The Office?! I really must have memory holed this show once Carrell left.

Gonna be hard with remote work.

1 person in an empty office.

Honestly, that's not a bad idea. Yes, for most episodes all of the cast would be together, in-office. But if remote work is allowed, say, one or two days a week, every so often you could have a character start out on zoom, in a meeting or whatever, then follow them at home for one of the episode's plot lines, see whatever hijinks they get up to, etc. Opens up the possibilities a bit.

Overall, maybe I just miss / am nostalgic for good sitcoms again, but with Greg Daniels returning I don't think this will be a complete train wreck, and am actually kind of looking forward to it.

Let's be honest here.

Greg Daniel's didn't run that ***** Mike Schur did.

Which is why Greg Daniel's disappeared, and Schur sure didn't.

This show is a disaster in the making if Schur ain't running it (which he absolutely doesn't seem to be.)

It's a long shot to work but imo it's off to a great start by having zero tie in to the old characters.

If it's a new place with different people, why don't they just call it something else?

The only good idea here is to hae a spinoff entirely about Vance Refrigeration.
