Never heard of the dude. But complaining about unoriginal popular music has been low hanging fruit of music critics forever. Popular music that is popular means it gets the job done. Only time will tell if it is memorable.
And there are a million different artists out there taking chances and making original music it's just the masses don't care.

When, in reality, what I actually said was that it didn't feel like it had been marketed as hard as some of her past albums. Not that it didn't have any marketing behind it. Of course it marketing behind it, and tons of it. This campaign simply didn't feel quite as big as, say, the campaigns for Reputation or Lover.

The album is a massive success and all this "well actually" it isn't good is just a fools errand. It's popular music that will make her another billion dollars and sometimes you just have to accept the "50 million Elvis fans can't be wrong" factor.
For the record, 99% of the crap I listen to is pre-2000 and I consider the 70s the best decade for all music genres (except rap)

And he's not a critic. He analyzes what makes songs unique, and breaks down their components. And he does deep dives into well-known songs with the artists who created them.
His infrequent critiques of Spotify's Top 10 are designed to demonstrate that artists today play it safe too often in terms of chord progressions, melodies, production and you know, the other important parts of music.
This has nothing to do with Taylor Swift. It's silly to **** on Rick Beato because he didn't fawn all over her one of her songs.
Beato's onto Swift because he actually understands music on a fundamental level. What she produces isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it also isn't worthy of the attention or praise it gets. It scratches an itch perfectly for mostly 12-35 year old women who don't appreciate good music. Beato reacting to Swift is similar to watching Gordon Ramsay eat Fazoli's. Just because they recognize it is generic and bland doesn't mean the target audience would -- that's the point of a lot of pop music.

I feel like Metallica's 1980s arrangements were so much more complex. For being that young, their acoustic work and melodies were iconic….to this day.
Insert Bob Rock and a flashy black album, I feel like they were never the same. Load and beyond were not the same. I did enjoy a song or two from each album after. But the first four albums were AMAZING.
