These flashback episodes hit like crack. Love me a good Aimee Leigh / Nettles call back.

Agree that the casting for the children gemstones continues to be the funniest thing ever. I about died with Kelvin karaoke-ing Superman. And the furby. Pure early 2000s

man, i guess im in the minority here but i thought this episode kind of sucked.

Y'all are right about the young kid nailing McBrides accent. I don't like the young Judy actress at all. She seems to be trying to hard. Just overdoes every scene she's in.

And they really leaned into the early 90s aesthetic, but the problem is that it was supposed to be 2002

But isn't that exactly what older Judy does too? (And I mean that as a compliment to her character!)

The most impressive thing is how they can make Goodman look so much younger and it doesn't look like CGI or a poor makeup job. The difference in his flashback and present day face (wrinkles, sagging skin, etc) is amazing. Apparently it's AI that does it.

MAJOR improvements since Star Wars if they used the same techniques!

The episode didn't have much of a plot, i agree. My only left-field idea is that the guy who stole the Bible recognizes Bradley Cooper as one of his own ancestors in the photo and this all a long con by Megan Mulally's family to bankrupt or steal from the Gemstones by exposing them.

I thought Lori was a con artist, but that episode has me second guessing everything.

Jesse's buddies discovering that Lori is a "black widow" may point more to her jealous ex-husband killing her boyfriends and feeding them to the gators instead of her killing them for the money.

I don't know that she is completely innocent, though. She could still be in it for the money, or have some long-lost crush on Eli, or is about to go all "Single White Female on the whole family" (remember her putting on Amie Leigh's glasses).

At the end of this last episode, she clearly knew or had an idea that her husband was the robber. The son thinks the same thing because he covered for his dad by saying he saw him that night and gave him a jump. The mom, the son, and the dad were definitely not in on it together..at least not at that time.

Perhaps they've all joined forces as a family of con artists after 20 years, but I just don't see that being the case.

As for the stolen golden Bible, perhaps Lori or her husband discovered that their anscestor was the preacher murdered by Bradley Cooper Gemstone that started the whole saga?

Another dud episode. This season has too many crap storylines.

I thought tonight was a pretty decent episode.

"I'm ain't asking for the world here. Just an eight ball and two million bucks. " - Uncle Baby Billy aka the recast Teenjus.

Show feels like it's sort of just going through the motions.

I have to wonder if something is up with Jody Hill (McBride's partner on everything). Levi has only been in 1 episode and looked 25-30 pounds heavier in that appearance. Jesse is usually at his best ringleading the other morons and they've been almost entirely absent.

Even at its best, one of the show's problems has been keeping the audience way in the dark for every single plot line until the last episode. I don't think I care anymore what the truth is between Eli and Karen and Stiffler and Yondu. Baby Bill and his rampant raicsm at his babysitter is about the only thing that makes me laugh. The monkey stuff was funny at first, but just felt like gross-out humor tonight.

Gideon's arc - or whatever the hell is going on there - is the perfect encapsulation of everything wrong with the season. It's all just aimless, random, patchwork gobbledygook. Gideon was a stuntman for some reason, but now he's an aspiring preacher who clearly has no business being one, except he's also suddenly a skate pro, which somehow makes him a more confident preacher, even though the show has spent multiple episodes implying his path lie elsewhere. Never mind that he doesn't feel remotely related to a single family member, just like none of the various threads this season feel remotely related to any of the others. There's no coherency, through line, or central family plight, and at this point I'm almost relieved there are only two episodes left.

Yeah, there isn't a central enemy or force driving the story along, so it is falling flat this season. Is it supposed to be Cobb, Lori, I don't know? The two best characters, Baby Bill and BJ, just seem like afterthoughts as well.

I'm sticking around to see Judy put dr Watson in the oven or food processor after drugging it.

I guess Cobb getting fed to the monster gator will be cool too.

There are only two left? That bums me out. And man, do they have a lot of plots to see through in a short span.

******* threesome in the finale while BJ and Mr Watson watch? That would be about right for this show lol

my wife and I took 5 minutes of debating if it was Bradley Cooper.

Really cool way to go off expectations and make it something completely different.

Eugene from Walking Dead as the real preacher at the beginning

and now a second Walking Dead alum as the ex husband of Megan Mulally

who in real life is 64 (!!)

This show is entering "How I met your mother" territory. I'm not enjoying it but am sticking g it through because I have many hours invested and want to see how it ends

Yeah, last season was the perfect wrap. It's still entertaining so I'd rather have something inferior than nothing. But it's going to take something miraculous conjured by a Top Christ Following Man to salvage an ending anywhere close to what last season did

Too bad Teenjus didn't end up being Top Christ Following Man because Uncle Baby Billy bribed them.

I want to see Stephen Dorff ( Vance Simkins) do an Ernest special. His character sounds so much like Jim Varney.

I'm right there with you. This season has been so disjointed and unnecessary. I was happy when I heard it was renewed for this season, but in hindsight, not so much. Last year would have wrapped it up nicely. This season seems like a cash grab.

Would be great to have a Teenjus commercial with Baby Billy as Teenjus but with the CGI anti-aging done like they did with Goodman.

AGREED

well stated

although out of EVERY CHARACTER on that show I like Gideon the best!!

they could have had him suck as a preacher, and then just get better over the season as he learns from his dad, grandpa, aunt and uncle.

other than Jamie Foxx-

is there any other actor today who is as hilarious and yet also a freaking amazing dramatic actor as

Walton Goggins?!!

I think people underestimate how difficult being a great comedic actor is; so I'd say there's more than you'd think.

Never underestimate Steve Carrell's ability to depress the everliving hell out of you.

John C Reilly's career through Gangs of New York and Magnolia come to mind.

And not current, but Robin Williams was amazing in both comedic and dramatic roles.

That was a much better episode, but felt like one they could done 3-4 episodes ago.

Baby Billy's dance party was lights out. He's become the family's most competent member. I kept thinking he was going to OD on coke, but he just got knocked out.

Add Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, Kristen Wig… just to name a few more. The smaller list is dramatic actors that can do comedy well…Brad Pitt is one

The episode was better for sure, but this season is the "clip show episode" season of TRG.
