How long do you want to ignore this user?
Season/series finale predictions

Double wedding: Eli/Karen and Kelvin/Keefe
Baby Billy wins an Emmy for Teenjus and/or dies from his Coke habit
BJ has Judy wear a monkey mask during intercourse

I read a interview with McBride where he said he didn't tell the cast that the finale was the series finale until after they were done shooting, and they were all shocked.

Outside of the premiere with Bradley Cooper this season has fallen flat for me. It hasn't been strong in plot or comedy, just a couple of minor laughs here and there. Easy to see they were struggling this season and why the show is ending. I'm still optimistic they can end on a high note. I will say that regardless of the season overall Baby Billy is still great. I have enjoyed the whole Teenjus part of the show.

The German nanny is going to kick Baby Billy's ass and he's going to turn back to his family like every season.

Wondering how the golden Bible ends up fitting into tying the whole story off.

The nanny was hugging him after the hostage situation so I think they're good now.

So what are the loose ends that still need to be tied up?

1. Baby Billy & the 4 subplots surrounding him
A. The outcome of Teenjus
B. His cocaine problem
C. Him neglecting his family
D. The German nanny (all 4 of these will likely be solved together in one storyline)

2. Gideon sucking at being a preacher & Pontius' returning to the family story arc

3. Relationship between Eli & Lori??
A. Will they live happily ever after? Or will it be plutonic?
B. Will the family finally support the relationship whatever it may be?
C. Will Amie-Leigh return (through a dream or some other plot device) to show her support?

4. The Golden Bible

5. I'd like to see a little more followup on the BJ/Judy/Dr Watson situation before it's over. BJ asking her to wear a monkey mask during sex (as suggested by a previous poster) would be perfect!!

Anything else I'm missing???

I think most of those are pretty tied up at least directionally already.

I don't think Baby Billy and the cocaine is really an issue (for this show) - just how he is. And the reunion with his family will be there for both Baby Billy and Eli / Lori after the hostage thing.

I do want to see what happens with Teenjus.

Gideon and Pontius worked it out in skateboarding scene.

I hope they do one more thing with BJ and Dr Watson but I guess they could just leave it.

Going into the finale they could focus on any or all of it which makes it interesting.

The big thing is the golden Bible. Hoping they have something good planned for it to tie back in a cool way to the first episode.

The near total lack of Amber has enraged me. She's way too hot to not be on that show a ton.

Also the lack of the Chad/Gregoy/Levi/Can't remember the black guy's name dream team. They were in 1 episode.
I love McBride but it's been a real letdown of a season. Prior to this effort, as an ensemble comedy I only had the best of Arrested Development ahead of it.

I have not watched this latest episode...just have a thought that possibly Pontius becomes the preacher that Gideon is not cut out to be. A parallel move to Bradley Cooper from the opening episode where the scoundrel becomes the sincere preacher

As underwhelming as this season is, an Uncle Baby Billy spinoff needs to happen.

Leave the main Gemstones behind and make it a fish-out-of-water story.

Uncle Baby Billy in Hollywood. Uncle Baby Billy in the Big Apple. Uncle Baby Billy in Europe. Wherever.

Could be incredible.

This showed up on YouTube last night- a fake "Faith Tonight" story on Baby Billy.
really starting to smell like a spinoff in here.

Baby Billy overdoses and literally dies on the cross while filming Teenjus?

Even better if his heart stops from too much of his blessed cocaine, then he's revived by EMS only to believe that he died and was then resurrected.

I just hope there's not much Keefe in the final episode. He's been next level creepy to me this season, and that was before he put on a dress and climbed on top of Eli while he was in bed.

I will miss Baby Billy.

Didn't Baby Billy "die" in the first season when he was struck by lightning?

I never thought I'd stop calling Walton Goggins "Shane Vendrell" or "Cletus Van Damne" every time I saw him, but Baby Billy is his all-time masterpiece.

I don't know if I've ever laughed harder than that first season episode where he explains to Amber how the tide will come in and submerge Scotty's van, then the next shot is the van almost entirely visible in the swamp.

anyone else jarred by the really gratuitous violence in this episode?

like we really had to see a young kid get shot in the face by Gator man?

and large pools of blood around two murdered cops?

I understand black comedy but there were other ways to go on that

Finally caught up on this season

Uncle Baby Billy is peak Walton Goggins. Nothing else and no one else comes remotely close.

Everything he says/acts is comedy gold. I lost it at his reaction to his wife's fart and the "Teenjus" naming.

Within about 30 minutes of re-watching "Turn the Other Cheek" on YouTUbe, was re-watching GLee with my kids and this long-haired goof from the school's "God Squad" was referred to as Teen Jesus.

Completely mailed that one in.

I pretty much hated that.

Can't believe how bad they tanked this show with this final season.

Oh well. It was 3 seasons and 1 episode of solid entertainment otherwise.

Yea, that was an awful series finale. It would have been better to end things last season.

Baby Billy had the least satisfying wrap-up of them all imo. I needed one last Teenjus musical number to close things out. I was really hoping we'd get something like that in the end credits.

What a weird season.
The first episode was phenomenal and unexpected.

Baby Billy was amazing for most of the season

Story was going in so many different directions though

The brain dead season finale McBride special, have to respect it at this point, he's 3/3. Really liked this show over all but don't think it ever got better than season 1.

The monkey bringing the gun, after all that with The White Lotus, and this airing behind Lotus, did send me.
TCTTS

Yeah, good lord, that was so weird, random, and pointless.

It's crazy how next to nothing happened this season, and how drawn out it all was, yet everyone's arcs, especially Uncle Baby Billy's, came to incredibly abrupt endings.

Oh, well.

At least it's finally over.

Reading back this seasons thread, I dont get why most of you were even watching anymore.
Clearly already tired of the show, just bizarre behavior.
I had not read it all until after the finale, but had not seen anyone hating on it until reading this thread.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Because we…

- love these characters
- loved the first three seasons
- felt the season three finale already put a nice bow on the series
- wanted the final season to be a worthy swan song despite that

... and it simply helped to commiserate with others when it was clear the quality had dipped. But it is what it is, and it's okay to try and understand why/discuss as much on the internet.

There were certainly some laughs too, and they were acknowledged/appreciated in this thread as well.
PatAg

I only posted that because I was very surprised to see all of you hating it so much.
No one I personally know feels that way, and hadnt really seen sort of public feedback that was negative either.
Was surprising.

Makes you wonder how much we all influence each other without realizing it. Hard to really watch anything truly in a vacuum.

Bc you never know what Danny McBride is gonna pull out of his ass.

-Bradley Cooper- fantastic.
-Stifler and Megan Mullay-quite good.

The end could have been anything with McBride, and it was low investment.
