it's a great movie but every time i watch it the phil story arc drives me more crazy

Phil wouldn't have passed out for 2 days on a hot roof in the desert.

he could have easily woken up and yelled down for help.

or, you know, talked to the crew who were on the roof removing the mattress.

You're right. Phil would've been just fine if he was on the roof. But Doug would've still been up there.
