I had Alexa shuffling through songs and "God of wine" by Third Eye Blind came on, and I got an instant image of 14 year old me with bleached frosted tips, Tommy Hilfiger polo and doc marten sandals in my mind's eye.

What a great song that was too, semi charmed life, graduate, how it's going to be, and others got all the hype, but I think this is the best song they've done, and one of the best of the late 90's.

Hotel California. One kid played that song every day after school in his Transam as he left school. You could set your watch by it. Many, many more, but that's the main one that reminds me of my senior year of high school.

Pretty much this entire Saves The Day album, Stay What You Are, but this song especially.

To me, this song perfectly describes transitioning from a young adolescent to a young adult to just being kicked off the docks and left to figure it out yourself, and learning that it's not wise to look back, but only to concentrate on looking forward, even if you are a vessel and cant control it. It ends with the "curtain" call. Beautiful song.

The "current" in this song referenced as "pulling the plugs" out of the dam is...time.

It hits now different that I am just a few days from turning 40.

She Blinded Me With Science is about as 80's as you can get
At first I thought we must be th same class but you got a 5 year gap there from She Blinded Me, Diver Down and Fast Times in 1982 to Top Gun and 5150 in 1986 and others in between.

I'm class of '84 so a few of those are decidedly college for me.

Anyone who graduated in '98 either has fond memories or PTSD from Good Riddance by Green Day. That song came out in the fall of '97 and was everywhere through graduation. I liked Green Day but was pretty indifferent to that song, but as an adult that song takes me back more than any others do. I've come to appreciate it because it's not something I hear very often but when I do I think of high school.
