That was very fun!
felt big, felt impactful, I never wondered why I was there. it was heartfelt. really really liked it.

when the little girl got poofed, I audibly gasped. that was dark.

Thought it was fun but I feel like there should have been one or two more characters with powers on the team. It feels like the MCU keeps throwing out a lot of assassins or super soldiers and then randomly Sentry and Captain Marvel that can crush the rest in a second. Not really a middle tier anymore.

Yelena is literally the only member of the team without super powers.

One thing the MCU has made very clear… Kevin Feige hates Taskmaster

I could not care less about Taskmaster, but I *am* getting kind of sick of Marvel doing **** like this. There's teasing/being coy, which goes hand-in-hand with marketing in general, but then there's straight up lying with trailer images like this, which feels like crossing a line...

Yep, that's the added shot I mentioned earlier. There apparently was a later commercial where she's absent, so between that and the lack of marketing promoting the character (and any other footage outside the Vault), many people saw this coming a mile away.

I'm genuinely curious if it will it be called Thunderbolts* or The New Avengers going forward, on merchandise/digital/streaming/cable/etc. I'm assuming the former, due to potential registration issues (like with the MPAA and the guilds and the IRS and whatnot), but maybe not?

Yeah, but this team is vastly underpowered compared to the old Avengers. Not that I really care that much because that's kind of the point.

They have Sentry but he doesn't do anything...yet.

They could be the Great Lakes Avengers.

Really, really enjoyed it. Feels good to finally walk out of a Marvel film looking forward to the next installment. I'd gone to every single one on opening night since Iron Man, but by GOTG 3 it just felt so stagnated. Still haven't seen Marvels or BNW yet so I'll eventually go back and watch that

They could have killed off Ghost or Taskmaster or switched them out in every scene and I wouldn't have known the difference

I'm glad they didn't have more power. They are the B team, which is what made this movie work. I do agree they could have had more variety. They have three super soldiers. I would have liked a couple of different skills in there, but they should all be relatively low powered.

May be one reason they got rid of Taskmaster. He's essentially a fourth super soldier since he mimics others skill sets.

Explanation from the writer who wrote Taskmaster's arc

In Pearson's version of the film, Taskmaster not only survives to the end, but she also plays an integral role in the team. For example, her inclusion gave Ava (Hannah John-Kamen), who was similarly given powers in a lab, someone to relate to. "Ava, having won her autonomy earlier in the chronology than Taskmaster, was kind of big-sistering her a little bit, in a way of 'how to break free and be your own person,'" Pearson says.

In addition, because Taskmaster had memory issues, there was a running gag where she would forget everything that the group had been through and would keep trying to complete her task of killing John Walker (Wyatt Russell). "On the comedy side, she was struggling with her own memory-loss stuff, and there was a gag where she just kept restarting the fight and forgetting that they had made up and become friends," Pearson said. "They would be discussing the plan of how to get out [of the vault], and she'd just go after him again, and they'd all have to pig-pile on each other, and pull her off, and be like, 'No, we know each other! We've had this conversation before!'"
Pearson isn't sure exactly why the character was cut, but he thinks her death certainly raised the stakes and that the memory plot line may have run up against a bigger throughline that was similar. "[The memory storyline] could contribute as another reason why they chose to bring her out of the movie," he said. "Bob was obviously having memory issues as a big part of his character." And, of course, you couldn't cut Bob.

Gotta say, I love all of this rebranding stuff they're doing to (try to) keep the interest and hype going. There's finally a sense of fun and excitement back in the MCU for the first time in 5 or so years.

I'm going to be disappointed if this "New Avengers" thing doesn't lead to Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie going back and forth on social media

I can't think of another movie that has gone to this extent let alone a few days after release to completely change the title

Birds of Prey changed its name to Harley Quinn but that was more of a pivot to prevent a bomb.

Sounds like this has been planned since day one, and the speed in which they made the change is almost assuredly a long-in-the-works strategy to try and boost second-and-third-weekend box office gross, which I think it will actually do.

That was a lot better film than I went in to expecting. The to plot was fine, but the exploration of depression was I thought really well done.

This sounds cheesy, but depression was the really villain of the movie.

T&Ps for his psych and pharmacist. No pressure but if you put him on the wrong anti-psychotic for his BP, then all of NYC may disappear.
