Doesn't the first Iron Man have Tony flying his suit from California to Afghanistan and back near instantly?

And doesn't the first Captain America have cap fighting Red Skull in a plane that flies from Germany to the Antarctic in, like, 10 minutes?

Let's not worry about travel times in these movies.

Arctic. Not Antarctica. Much closer.

This movie wasn't good. It was pointless.

Not sure I'd say it wasn't good. But it got a little over "meh" from my entire family. And we all went in really excited. The jokes were flat and forced imo. Interesting idea, just not what I was expecting.

That said, we all loved the F4 trailer. That movie looks cool.

We really liked this movie and thought the F4 trailer was lame.

You know, someone up top in the thread said the real villain was depression. I think that's probably what we all didn't enjoy. It's pretty smart, but not as traditional as I was expecting. Funny that the darkness, while pretty original (and that's what I always value), wasn't something I enjoyed watching this time. Maybe that's why I hated Joker also. Not sure.

The fantastic four is something I've always thought lame also. However, I'm gonna give some credit to Fallout. That 1950s setting is already sucking me in.

Not only was the movie a metaphor for depression, the final conflict resolution was literally the team telling Bob not to beat himself up over what had happened.

I can't think of another marvel movie that so clearly had something it wanted to say, and I appreciated Thunderbolts for that.

You'd think Marvel could learn that doing movies like this where you move the plot along some without having to have 8 million robots and a villain who rises and falls in 100 minutes are a really good idea in between the big tent pole things.

I know I'm in the minority of people that liked Black Panther 2, but it's themes of grief and loss and duty are really powerful; obvious a pivot because of Chadwick Boseman's real death, but it did a great job of putting stuff out there and saying "Sometimes there's not a solution, you just do your best."

Very hopeful the new Superman movie can tap into some of the biggest moral totem pole for Kal-El: He can't save everyone.

Six years ago, in April/May 2019, we celebrated the return of half of a fictional universe that had been blipped away. A year later, during April/May 2020, we were fighting a different kind of personal isolation in real life.

I wonder if this movie, five years later, will serve as a bit of catharsis, remembrance, and acceptance of our failings and the failings of others. Even the loner misfits (especially the loner misfits!?) need help from others occasionally. Rarely are you better off alone.
If you want a great, fun movie that explores this exact situation without superheroes or even explosions, give About A Boy a watch. No man is an island.

Same. Not bad, just kinda meh, and a little rushed.

I felt like it needed to be 30 minutes longer, developing the characters...especially towards the end. For example, Walker was not a likeable guy in his personal life. Hard to root for a guy who was so terrible to his family, but they never really resolved that. And the depression theme got a little dark. Didn't care for some aspects of that.

But it wasn't bad...the show had some really funny moments, and I thought the crew worked well together. Curious what they do for a follow-up.

When the Red Guardian tells the little girl she is safe now, and she got voided. The audience in my theater about shat theirself.

Bucky rolling up with the grenade mine launcher was classic Winter Soldier that I wanted more of.

Red Guradian was funny AF in every scene he was in. He works so well with Yelena's character.

Thought it started out strong, then fell of a bit at the end, but probably b/c I was not expecting the ending.

Would have liked to have seen Red Guardian's dark room as well.

Was shocked they killed off Task Master like they did. Seems out of place for this movie. I thought I saw somewhere it was to force a loss on Alena (connection to the Red Room) but I didn't see it that way. Would have liked more character development of her.

Wife and I went to see this a few weeks ago. After it was over her comment was "This is the absolute best portrayal of mental health/depression I've ever seen." While it registered with me, it resonated with her.

Outside of Guardians and Spidey, this was the best MCU movie for its originality in far too long. Mostly because I didn't see it coming and hitting as hard as it did.

Red Guardian's unbridled optimism and just flat out joy for his team vs the isolated non-voluntary villain, was a great dichotomy. Red G's superpower is unlimited dopamine.

Thinking about this further, G3, S3 and Thunderbolts all have common threads that struck chords. Vs the bland crap the rest of Phase 4 shat out.

Finally saw this movie & thought it was pretty good for Marvel's recent offerings.
Agree with the poster about the "Thunderbolt's" powers. 3 super soldiers, yelena (none), Ghost, and Sentry/Bob who is godlike. The lack of interesting and unique powers on the squad makes it a little boring IMO & Sentry is way overpowered. The contrasting personalities help, but the team could use some variation IMO.

This one really hit the nail on the head with depression, Ted Lasso really nails it regarding anxiety.

I watched this yesterday with little to no expectations and I really enjoyed it. Definitely had a strong Guardians of the Galaxy vibe. It was shockingly deep regarding depression and mental health, not just with Bob, but with Yelena and Walker as well.

I thought Lewis Pullman knocked it out of the park. Portraying a guy dealing with depression and bipolar disorder is a tall task and he was so good. Florence Pugh was great as well but I like her in pretty much everything. Wyatt Russell really surprised me in this one, he's never really done much for me and I think he really put some effort into Walker this time around that I don't think I've seen from him before.

I admit I got a little emotional down the stretch with Yelena and Bob. She walked into the darkness to bring him out and she had to deal with her own personal hell to get to him. He tells her that room is the best one, the others are worse and that one is no picnic. Then, when it looks like the two of them can't get out the rest of the group comes to save them. Everyone went out on a limb to help those that needed it. I just think that's a pretty beautiful sentiment for how much help you need when you're battling mental health demons.

Big thumbs up on this one.

Yep, just rewatched this one again this weekend on D+. I still liked it just as much as I did in the theater. The comparison to Guardians is pretty accurate, because they're both movies about "found families", rather than just team-up movies.

Before Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4 came out I was thinking FF would be the new "heart" of the MCU, much like Guardians was in the previous phases. But now, having seen them both, I think the Thunderbolts is gonna be the new "heart", giving us that family group that's really necessary to make us care.

I watched this last night. I'm glad I didn't see the last trailer that came out because I was excited when I saw the comic pages flipping in the marvel logo showing The Sentry. I thought Pullman did a great job as I read some of the comics with the Sentry in the Avengers and Siege Crossover. I thought this was one of the better Marvel movies during this phase and look forward to seeing some of these characters again.

Wife and I watched it last week. We enjoyed it.

I knew nothing of The Sentry. Seems like he could end up being powered in the Capt. Marvel/Thor/Thanos with some stones/Hela kind of way. Really really powerful, more so in the comics than the movies, but really strong.

Hope all of that crew comes back together. It was a fun trip. And Dreyfus makes a good villain.
