After the success of Project Hail Mary, Amazon MGM is reportedly developing an animated series.

The show would follow Ryland Grace traveling between stars helping alien civilizations solve problems using science.
The source says the Hail Mary would be upgraded with FTL travel. pic.twitter.com/YpfuMExYKh
TCTTS said:$8m-$8.25m today and given that @supermariomovie not nearly as big as the original and @michaelmovie not likely a phenomenon, @projecthailmary has a great shot at $350m domestic & $700m global. Performing well in places like India and likely will be a solid performer in China. https://t.co/T8HyiQ3y5F

I am currently reading The Martian. So far I concur.
I just laughed out loud over the end of one early chapter, after NASA has discovered that Mark Watney is still alive after his funeral. The NASA director says to someone, "I wonder what he's thinking right now?" This was followed up by a very short log entry, where Watney wonders how Aquaman communicates with whales. While that wasn't in the movie to my recollection, I found that to resonate much like the sequence at the mound in Bull Durham when the team was trying to figure out the pitcher's need to buy a wedding gift, or whatever that was.
Lots of people criticized the movie trailer for the same reason because it's definitely a surprise moment in the book.Jason Ag said:
I saw it today, knew nothing going in, didn't feel more lost than any other syfi. I appreciated them not trying to get into the weeds on explaining science concepts, just doing a good story. Ryan G did a great job.
Spoiler tag just incase.
I can't remember the last time I went to a movie completely blind, I went with some family members last second. Didn't watch any trailers, nothing. One of the previews was for the audio book, mentioned the alien aspect and showed the alien ship from the movie. Would have been cool for that to be a surprise. Haha
This. My wife and I went last night (I read the book, she hadn't). And I kept thinking during the movie that 'no way non book readers are keeping up with the detail. And sure enough the after movie discussion revealed a lot of it didn't translate well enough.Duckhook said:
Saw the movie today. I'm a fan of Andy Weir's books and certainly enjoyed The Martian. Liked this movie, but I'm honestly not sure I could have kept up with it well without having read the book. Seems like I filled a lot of gaps in myself from the knowledge I had from the book. Just my opinion.

Just got out of the 8:30am showing at the IMAX in Dallas. I have not seen another movie that's as close to the book as this one. Both are outstanding!
I had heard the complaints about the humor, but that's how the book is! Gosling was very good in this role as Grace.
"Asked" my wife to go and she absolutely loved it!
The ONLY negative was the a-hole on the other side of my wife who dropped his phone loudly, then later his giant wad of keys, then again when he decided to search for his keys with his flashlight with about 30 minutes still to go, in the tiny imax rows/seats to boot, then again with his flashlight to look for something in his lap. I didn't know until afterwards that apparently he was chomping on his straw the whole time too, to my wife's major irritation.
Because of my misophonia, sitting in a movie theater is unbearable.
The constant popcorn chewing sends me into a near rage.
I guess that's why I rately go to crowded movies.

I read the book several years ago. Finally saw the movie. It was awesome.
I agree, the science and language were rushed. Maybe they could have shown that it took months to learn a few words without slowing the movie down.
Spaceship reveal could have been better.
They missed a great part of the book. After Ryland was settled for a while on Erid, Rocky said "good news from our scientists, your star is getting brighter". Really cool scene. Ryland just sent the probes out with hope. He had no way of knowing if they reached Earth, still had living bugs, etc. Big miss from movie script.

you should hear my wife eat carrots...oof.
Movie was really good, visually fantastic.
a little to simplified, and rocky was kind of reduced to a sidekick vs scientist, but movie cannot last 5 hours.

Saw it again with the kids this time. It was a perfect adaptation from the book. If the movie was longer it would have driven the non book readers nuts. If it was shorter then the book readers would have lost their minds. Great balance. And again, the sounds and music hit harder than the visuals.
