Thanks for the heads-up. Registered for the pre-sale and I'll probably buy tix, but this seems like a $ grab to me.

A quick google search pulled this up. I'm not familiar with her, but apparently she's pretty good?

She sounds fantastic. I'm very intrigued. Geddy and Alex sound very enthusiastic about her. Also bringing in a keyboardist to help out.

Wasn't Neil Peart the only reason people loved that band?

It sure wasn't for Geddy Lee's vocals.

What's wrong with a money grab? As long as they put up a great show I'm happy to pay.

Niles is the real deal if Jeff Beck hired her. His standard for drummers was extremely high.

As a lifelong devoted fan, I'll probably go, but I thought they ended at the right time and the right way.

Geddy's vocals had been challenged (I'm being nice) the last 10+ years so it's concerning what they'll be now. Maybe the 10+ year of not touring will have helped. Even Alex admitted his playing had fallen off considerably at the end.

Alex had been suffering arthritis flare ups and had surgery a couple of years ago, but apparently his health has improved a lot. His new band Envy of None has several recordings out, and he's guest played with Rik Emmett's band Res9. I doubt he and Geddy would try to tour again if they had any doubts about being able to put on a great show.

I'm trying to imagine the pressure she will be under. It will be immense. Bigly.

I always wondered if they would do this with a big name drummer. As a series of tribute concerts. Never dreamed they would go this direction.

I wonder if Geddy would bring in a guest vocalist for some of the more challenging higher register songs? I'd be cool with that.

After watching their pure joy in discussing this here, as well as seeing a bit of the new drummer + the addition of a keyboardist, I've changed my tune and have signed up.

This should be fun.

I saw him with her on drums. She is excellent. Beck only hired the best.

I am willing to bet that the keyboardist also sings backup. But when you think of it, Rush doesn't really "harmonize" or double-track vocals.

They have a few harmonies in recent years and Alex sings them. But yeah, I'm betting the keyboardist will sing backups.

Keyboardists are always former choir kids who were forced to take piano lessons as a child (raising hand here) and have good backup vocals.

Sammy has one in his band now.

Bon Jovi's vocals on their hits would be crap without Dave Bryan's vocals.

I would prefer that Rush bring in a drummer who is a little more...... dude.

Rush is a band famous for their odds-defying 100% male audience. A female drummer can't feel comfortable in a giant room with 30,000 middle-aged to retirement-aged, white, male geeks, with a mean taxable annual income in the low to mid $100s. *We're talking Rush fans, those stats are based on fact.

That is a fantastic description of the audience.

In the same sort of demographic, when I saw Bruce Dickinson 6 weeks ago in Vegas, I was looking at the aging crowd and thinking, at 55 y/o, I'm one of the younger people here. They're going to have to put in more handicapped accessible seating soon.

For Rush in 2025, yeah, it's going to be all middle class White dudes between 45-65.

In this post-Covid era, I'm curious to see if the tickets start at $300 for nosebleed and will be over $1,000 for the floor. I paid $300 a piece to be on the floor for the final show at The Forum in August 2015 so 3x today wouldn't surprise me. I signed up for the Presale so we'll know on Monday.

Signed up for the presale.

I would pay $1000 no questions asked.

And I'm in the demographic. Old white guy. I'll be sitting or standing right next to an old white woman.

Oh wow, Anika Nilles touring with Rush. I remember watching her YouTube channel way back when she was a drum instructor in Germany (channel was originally called anyk before switching to her name). No doubt she will nail this gig based on everything I have heard from her since then.

Definitely trying to get tickets for Ft Worth

The hotel+reserved seat packages are around $900 to a little over $1,000 per person depending on the city, so tickets may not be dramatically more than $300. Keeping fingers crossed. We'll have to do MSG or Toronto.

Where do you see the ticket packages? I also see a citi card member presale for Friday but don't see a link.
