Went again for my 5th trip. The newest home owner has transformed the house back to the way it looked in the film. Notice the torn screen door? Zip line to, Data's house?

Random: there was a Cyndi Lauper concert on tv the other night as some sort of Grammy tribute. Was actually kind of cool to watch some of that. Lot of nostalgia there. She called out the Goonies because of her relationship with the film. There were a couple in the audience. Corey Feldman was there.

She also talked about running around with Captain Lou Alzedo and Rowdy Roddy Piper. Quite a few songs I had totally forgot about it.

Thanks everyone. Im 45 years old and swear it was one of the first films I watched growing up in theater. But at 5 years of age I cant say with 100% confidence. I watched it A LOT as a child though.

The Kindergarten Cop, school is just down the hill and a walk away from the Goonie house. It looks just as it did when that movie was filmed.

So, the story goes, they made Chunk, place his hand with a pizza slice and milk shake up against the window to cover the McDonald's sign just down the street. McDonald's wouldnt pay any money to have their logo in the movie.

"Chunk's" real mother was in the bowling alley during the filming of this scene. Being a young child, he began to cry and get frustrated with the work. His mom would walk back amd forth to McDonalds and bring him things to eat to try and help him get through the scene

The bowling alley still looks like an 80s time capsule. They re-did the window since they filmed and you can tell from my photo. They have a shirt just like his you can put on if you're staging a photo. Theres a Pepsi cup at the window too

They were around. I did get some time to explore Astoria, but I don't drink, so no breweries. I stayed at some cool hotel that was about two blocks from the pilot station. Went over to the beach just south of the channel entrance and went for a nice walk as well.

The view of the river from inside the pilot station is incredible. Also rode in their helicopter several times so got to see the whole area from the sky.

Well, it's good enough for me….

Always wanted to visit this area, one day it will happen.

If anyone is interested in a vacation to this area and want some recs, let me know. We can talk outside texags or here. As long as you have a rental car there are other places that are a short drive from Astoria that are definitely worth visiting. We stayed in Manzanita on this last trip but obviously visited Astoria.

Here's a pic I took of the sea lions in Astoria. They are EVER where! One of the hotels Ive stayed at (twice) gives ear plugs in their rooms because the sea lions are under the hotel and theyre loud. The hotel is called The Bowline. An old cannery turner hotel. Its beautiful.

Pro tip - If you visit the NW Oregon coast, drive a little further south along the coast to Tillamook to get some fresh ice cream at the Tillamook creamery. It is delicious.

We went on this trip and I was thoroughly impressed with their creamery. Its more impressive than Blue Bells and Im a fan. Their creamery only shows the cheese being made. If you've never had Tillamook ice cream I suggest you grab some if you have a Kroger in your area.

You can purchase ice cream at the creamery. Burgers, all sorts of things and its delicious

Those pictures are fantastic. I've gone on vacation to Cannon Beach twice (so I've seen haystack rock), but unfortunately haven't been to Astoria to check out most of the sights. The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies, thank you for sharing these.
