FWIW, this took place after the show ended. She was on stage to take a photo with the rest of the cast to celebrate their best picture win when she noticed some of the studio execs in the crowd who should be included. She went back down the steps to grab Warner Bros. co-CEO Pamela Abdy and was headed back onto the stage when the security guard stopped her. From what have read, the guard blocked her path then grabbed her to stop her from going back up the steps. It also sounds like he was not apologetic for what happened.

I get having a job to do but I think you also have to realize the crowd you are dealing with. These aren't randos off the street trying to get into a club. You have some of the wealthiest and most influential people in Hollywood in attendance. I think some professional courtesy and tact would probably go a long way, even if it isn't deserved. I'm not saying Teyana Taylor is an *******, but there are plenty of stories of celebrities being dicks to people. I'd err on the side of caution just in case. I certainly wouldn't know what the CEO of Warner Brothers looks like.

It also seems like the Academy is siding with Taylor. The security guard was contracted by an outside firm and according to the Academy "We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable," The security team also echoed their statement and said the incident did not meet the level of professionalism the expect from their employees and have addressed the situation internally.

Perhaps she wasn't in the wrong, but the Academy siding with wealthy, celebrity actress over regular dude outside security proves nothing. In fact, the Academy coming out and making a statement makes me more skeptical of the celebrity's version of the story and more sympathetic to the regular Joe.

Probably had one directive: don't let anyone from the crowd onto the stage.

I've always thought this as well, but somehow Sean Penn still won.

Helps that he is a rabidly left leaning socialist. That probably does more than any PR firm or manager could do. He has tremendous street cred in Hollywood as a result.

I heard Sean Penn missed the Oscars because he was holding conservative women hostage and making them swear to have their babies undergo trans surgery within their first week of life. Kamala Harris was driving the getaway car and Ryan Coogler is making the whole thing the plot of BLack Panther 3.

I finally watched Sinners on Saturday, and I went in knowing almost nothing about it. I thought it was a mess. The first half was interesting enough as you could tell it was building toward something, but I was completely bored during the last 30 minutes or so. I really don't get the hype at all. After seeing it nominated for so many awards and winning multiple Oscars, I had high expectations.

Is One Battle after Another the biggest flop to win best picture? Per Variety it could lose $100M...woof.

I got a chance to watch Sentimental Value last night on Hulu so I figured if anyone wanted to see any of the best picture nominees, here is where they are available on streaming since all but one are currently available on one of the major streaming services.

One Battle After Another - HBO Max
Bugonia - Peacock
F1 - Apple TV
Frankenstein - Netflix
Hamnet - Peacock
Marty Supreme - available on HBO Max on April 24th
The Secret Agent - Hulu
Sentimental Value - Hulu
Sinners - HBO Max
Train Dreams - Netflix

Four years later and it's still insane to me that this is a thing that actually happened. Literally one of the most unhinged, ****-the-bed, kill-your-career-in-an-instant things that's ever happened on live TV. All he had to do was sit there, accept his Oscar half an hour later, and then be considered one of the greatest of all time. That night, he was at the absolute pinnacle of his career. Instead, he just completely loses his mind in the most humiliating fashion ever...

Watching it again, the composure he kept was honestly so impressive to keep presenting and move smoothly as possible through it

I wish I could have seen the alternate reality of Chris Rock's response where he just lit into Will Smith and every rumor about him and his wife that exists out there in the atmosphere for the next 2 minutes until the network had to awkwardly jump to commercial.

I too think about this on occasion and about how crazy it was. Almost as crazy is the fact that he was allowed to stay. At a minimum Smith should've been booted from the venue as soon as it happened.

The only thing that made me believe it wasn't an act was the obvious looks of "hey SECURITY HEY HEYYYY" looks and the "oh I could.. nope" before continuing on

As I recall, he was asked to leave but refused. I guess they didn't want cops hauling him out.

He seems like a huge pansy for being 6 foot 3 and in great shape. The LeBron of Hollywood.

Just got back from seeing Sirat (Best International Feature nominee), and I am not sure what the hell I just watched. Not sure what the point was supposed to be, or maybe the point intended is that there is no point. Definitely memorable, either way.

Watch it if you want, but I wouldn't get too attached to any of the characters.

this is the most interesting i saw in the aftermath. The after action reporting and analysis of this was as interesting as the actual event. It basically came out that he's completely controlled by Jada and is just a full on lap dog how does whatever she says when she says. The term **** would be appropriate but we will see if that's acceptable

edit: it was, in fact, not acceptable
