FWIW, this took place after the show ended. She was on stage to take a photo with the rest of the cast to celebrate their best picture win when she noticed some of the studio execs in the crowd who should be included. She went back down the steps to grab Warner Bros. co-CEO Pamela Abdy and was headed back onto the stage when the security guard stopped her. From what have read, the guard blocked her path then grabbed her to stop her from going back up the steps. It also sounds like he was not apologetic for what happened.
I get having a job to do but I think you also have to realize the crowd you are dealing with. These aren't randos off the street trying to get into a club. You have some of the wealthiest and most influential people in Hollywood in attendance. I think some professional courtesy and tact would probably go a long way, even if it isn't deserved. I'm not saying Teyana Taylor is an *******, but there are plenty of stories of celebrities being dicks to people. I'd err on the side of caution just in case. I certainly wouldn't know what the CEO of Warner Brothers looks like.
It also seems like the Academy is siding with Taylor. The security guard was contracted by an outside firm and according to the Academy "We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable," The security team also echoed their statement and said the incident did not meet the level of professionalism the expect from their employees and have addressed the situation internally.
