There's a lot of weirdness at the police station.

The detective keeps interviewing people in the middle of this upscale looking dark lobby, sitting like 8 feet away from the person he's talking to. Clark has two guards outside his holding cell, cause they really need that for the weatherman. The tech room has all their texts and info up on a giant screen because that's how they'd be browsing their devices.

It's just strange for a show that seems to be carefully thought out in other areas.

in response to all these observations-

also keep in mind the way the actual people SPEAK is not realistic either. the entire show is not realistic.

Linda Cardellini says things that no one would really ever say in a normal human being other than a character from FARGO or a television show.

I think the point is to show characters who are acting on the outer edges of the human experience.

has any GUY on this thread ever acted like Floyd and David Harbour do towards each other?!?!

Funny episode -
  • Beastie Boys / ACE PHYSICAL
  • Detective Jenkins writing down LC under AP and anytime he says "Frenched a guy"
  • Liked the roller skating rink and recess monologue in the VIP section

It's all odd yes.

But we all know why Bateman took the role - even if none of it makes sense Linda Cardellini sitting on your face is a life goal. Bet they had to do 30 takes.

"Sorry guys I messed that up, can we do it again..."

I wonder if that was really her or a body double.

either way, not too shabby a life for a 57 year old male!

As long as we're pointing out strange aspects of the show, The Weatherman, who had the DTF idea, has not done it himself, correct?

We all know why, of course.

So I suppose he suggested DTF to give his "friend" something on the side similar to what he is getting?

This show feels so much like Burn After Reading. Such off-the-wall, dark comedy.

I'm here for it.

Well I was hoping to catch up last night because I only had about 15 minutes to go in episode 3, but my wife (who was scrolling on her phone through the first two episodes) got intrigued by the Powerhouse, Modern Love meetup, the scene with Floyd with his son at the Skatepark and the sex robot part, so I had to go start back over from episode one so she could catch up.

I kept telling her through all 3 episodes "I cant believe you aren't watching this, it has Jason Bateman and Linda Cardinelli in it" and she ignored me until it hooked her.

Her response "I thought you were watching the Steve Carrell show (Rooster) that I wasn't really into".

Come on, dude

The police station is strange and the "dive bar" the two cops hang out at feels like an expensive boardroom or fancy old library.

Seems like these were intentional decisions but no idea why.
LMCane

Wow- that was the best episode yet!

there is no other show like this on TV.

the dialogue, the plot twists, the unique characters.

It went from comical farce to super intense and deep friendship between men.

that has never really been touched on - can anyone think of another show which seriously deals with the strong bonds of friendship between men which is not sexual?

in the earlier episodes the police believed that Clark was using the app to get Floyd out of the way so that he could steal his wife

now we know that was not the case and it was more that Clark was trying to help Floyd become happier.

Man, I disagree on the last episode. It was a chore to get through, and this show is losing me. I've liked it until the last episode, but it's just so weird with so little excitement that it's starting to get boring. I'll stick it out because there isn't that much left. But I didn't think the last episode was enjoyable at all, compared to the earlier episodes.

Interesting show two eps in. Wife literally walked through the living room to see a 65" screen full of Indiana Jones themed pen*ses last night. Can't make this sh** up.

"WTH are you watching?!"

"Still that show with Jason Bateman that you asked me about earlier...can't believe they just showed that"

I'm gonna finish this one out as well because I love Bateman and Harbour is honestly killing it in this role. But this a seven episode show that could've been cut down to five. So much repetition.

I will say that there is a great scene in this episode.

Floyd is watching Weatherman trace letters on the wife's back.

In the far distance, through the window, a figure comes staggering closer, looking like something from Night of the Living Dead.

Floyd bolts past the couple on the bed, mutters "Rim Job," and goes on out the door.

Man it's a show of weird vibes but.... there is a surreal element to Floyd's little hero scenarios.

I wonder if we can trust the narrator here. Or trust that it was real in another way.

What I mean is has Floyd made out these fantasy stories making himself out to be some hero. Saving the guy in the street, then a guy about to walk into a pool. Just bizarre coincidences at hose moments. and really weird scenarios around them like the bandaged hands from another bizarre accident. The weird bike accident. Like what parents drop off their kid at a prom or whatever who is blind and deaf and just let him wander off. Even him watching them in the bed and sprinting through to save the guy. The timing of that. Then turning back to Clark and her and telling them to keep ****ing. Bizarre.

It occurred to me both what if it is exaggerated but also what if Floyd set those up to make himself out to be a hero. The oddities would make a lot more sense as a poorly executed made up scenario.

And everything else is kind of weird like that too - which I think makes you gloss over how weird those are. The wife's side gig is weird, the sex acts they do is weird, floyd watching, wanting clark to watch the inverse, their sign language convos. Is it all. a distraction to obfuscate this other weird stuff.

This is hilarious

Yeah I don't love this show like I thought I might. I don't even see a path to an ending that could save it

I do like it though and it has its moments. But not an elite show by any means.

No way the murderer is Carol or Clark.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
100% disagree with this take

the reason you see Floyd act in a humanistic way is to explain WHY CLARK HELPED HIM AND WHY HE IS STILL PROTECTING HIM

even at the great legal risk to Clark by defending his friend.

Can understand why it's not everyone's cup. The dialogue is still cracking me up juxtaposed against the way it's shot. The dick smash story arc still ongoing is hilarious. The way the detectives are trying to decipher the "bro, you're treating her wrong" text, but it's Floyd having thoughts how Clark should **** his wife. Lol

Floyd finally gets his "save one life" moment with signing. He's just a big ol lovable doofus ****. After the experience backyard scene (David H. was great the whole episode) I'm even entertaining the idea that Floyd ultimately found happiness at he end and seppekued his way out to financially help Carol?

Carol is also still showing a ton of premeditation. I'll agree the set design is a choice.

Ultimately will be suicide and she isn't going to get squat due to the 2 year contestability period which he was too dumb to realize, so he was essentially a ****up to the very end.
