Now they have cologuard which makes it super easy so you don't have to do the full colonoscopy. Drop a turd in a bucket they send you at home and drop it in the mail.

OMG no!

I've done it… personally I think pooping in a little bucket in the toilet and putting it a provided container is better than not knowing you have colon cancer.

Agreed, but you can be cancer free and still have polyps that can lead to cancer. ****ting in a box won't get those.

Colonoscopies are a pain in the ass (literally). Depending on your insurance, you're either taking pills or drinking this godawful liquid and then blowing out the toilet while also not eating for a couple of days, feeling weak as hell, then getting put to sleep and being groggy AF for the rest of the day.

I strongly disagree with this take. Yeah you take some pills and are on the toilet half a day, then you go in, take a nice nap and are done in an hour. Schedule it for a Friday morning and you have a nice 3 day weekend. Sure as hell beats chemo. Doing it once every 5 years is NOTHING compared to getting cancer.

+1
I've done two so far. Other than having to be within 30 ft of a toilet for a couple of hours, it isn't that bad. Plus, if you weigh yourself the morning of, you'll probably be at a six month low.

The bottom line is that its too easy to vs skipping it and rolling the dice.

One of my favorites of his.

Yeah, they found a couple when I did my first test. The doctor said Cologuard might have been a bad option for where I was at that moment.

Is it every 5 years after each test? I can't remember when I need to go back.

My first one they found some minor items, so they had me come back in 3 years. The second one was clean, so my Dr. said I don't need another one for 10 years.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I've had 3 and definitely recommend for peace of mind. First at 20 due to blood, found a (pre/noncancerous) polyp. Repeat at age 30 over objections of PCP. But did not care, wanted the peace of mind. Repeat at age 41, found another (pre/noncancerous) polyp. My intent is to repeat next year at age 45/46.

For anyone too macho for a colonoscopy, see the movie the Shootist (John Wayne's last movie). Even that man was not too proud to act like he was getting examined for colon cancer.

My mom had colon cancer when she was in her early 50s. She made it but chemo sucks.

This. I lost my wife to colon cancer. She was 50 when diagnosed. It had already gone to stage 4. A colonoscopy is a walk in the park compared to what she went through.

Damn, this picture is a gut punch. I can remember going to see Varsity Blues my freshman year at A&M. When the RB complained that he wasn't getting goalline carries to get the TD's, and ultimately wasn't getting recruited by A&M the whole theater whooped at once. That moment still sticks with me.

But not having them done once you're 40+ is the surefire way to die young.

They are not a pain. The prep isn't as bad as it used to be and the procedure is the best nap of your life.

Don't be a drama queen.

It doesn't detect polyps and remove them.

Just get scoped.

We usually go to Jesse's Taqueria since it's not that far from the GI center where I get scoped.

My wife gets me a big breakfast taco and a tea and I go home and eat and watch movies or tv shows or YouTube the rest of the day since they tell you not to drive, although I never have any hangover from the Propofol. That stuff is amazing.
