I really enjoyed how when Matt Damon dies he he is holding a brown paper bag filled with bread and milk which is exactly what his first "payment" was from Costello. Its almost like he ended up where he started.

Good stuff.

I thought it was great. All you heard when walking out was "I wanna know what was in the envelope."

one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. we were raving about the entire thing, start to finish. I was surprised upon reading this thread that the movie is 2.5 hours long, because it moves so fast. I give it 5 thumbs up.

what my boyfriend and I liked best about it, was the soundtrack. I've recently started listening to Irish rock, and I love it. the main band on this soundtrack was the Droplock Murphys.

Solid flick. Won't get Scorsese Best Picture, but most enjoyable one I've seen in the theaters in a while.

It's no Goodfellas though

Very good movie, I am not a fan of movies this bloody....but the movie still had an excellent plot....

saw it this weekend and thought it was excellent.

Awesome movie. It moved fast and it made me like Alec Baldwin (who I hate because he is such a liberal POS). Marky Mark is a BADA$$ and had some of the best lines of anyone in a long time. The movie had great twists and Jack being Jack. It reminded me of the Joker. He was cocky and a complete ass, but it didnt matter because he knew nothing could stop him. This movie makes me want to drop my r's and move to Southie.

I also enjoyed the Dropkick on the soundtrack, it fit in quite well with the movie. This is also one of the first movies where you can say that a cell phone was pretty much a character.

Whats the confusion? It obviously told the shrink what was going on and told her to contact Marky Mark and let him know what was up. It possibly contained audiotapes similar to the ones the shrink listened to. The envelope was NOT a McGuffin.

I think Marky Mark knew all along, especially after seeing Damon get him his 2 weeks suspension, and was purely acting on revenge.

The envelope contained the information pegging Damon as the mole. This information was to be given only to Wahlberg (the only one who knew the truth about Leo).

Since Wahlberg was no longer a cop and Damon had led to the death of Sheen and Leo, Wahlberg took care of Damon personally.

I'm sure that that's what happened. I guess if we had seen Walhberg walk out of Damon's apartment with the envelope sticking out of his back pocket, it would have cleared it up, but I'm still sure that's what happened.

how do we know the envelope contained that? why couldn't it have contained the audio for HER to hear it.

markymark knew it was damon right when he was being told he was getting 2 weeks with pay, he was pissed as **** and he knew it was him. After resigning by being so upset, he could have easily seen on the news because Damon was all over it after the return to 344 walsh.

it is conceivable that he was acting on revenge, and not the letter.

I was not smart enough to pick up the bread and milk Damon was carrying at the end. That was a nice touch and a nice observation.

i saw it this afternoon and enjoyed it. really good acting. most of it was just characters screwing with each other instead of following some plotline, such as the microprocessor deals, so it was interesting to see how all the characters were related in some way. i'm not sure if i'm crazy about how the last 20-30 minutes panned out. i think it could have been better...but it was still pretty good.

i took the whole envelope thing as the therapist was to send the envelope to mark whalberg, and he got it and then came back for revenge at the end.

the people i was with seemed a bit confused by that as well, so if there is a weak point in this movie, i would say that 'envelope business' probably shoulda been tied up a lil better.

but still, an excellent picture, and i'll be buying it on DVD.

Saw it yesterday and thought it was the best movie I have seen in a long time.

Do you think the baby was Damon's or DiCaprio's?

DiCaprio's - Damon was having issues in the bed and couldn't get it up...

damon did think it was his though and thats why he didnt off the therapist.

Why did Damon have a black eye and beaten up face half way through the movie? I don't recall any fights that he would have gotten into.

Wahlberg punched him after Sheen died.

Just got back. Outstanding movie and great performances. Best flick I've seen in a while.

Oh, can someone explain to me the scene where the gangster is dying on the couch. Why did he not tell the others that Leo was a rat? I may have missed some dialogue there.

Because he was a rat too double aught. When the news report is talking about finding the body they said that he was a police officer working undercover.

But then Jack says that was made up so that he would stop looking for the rat. Guess he was mistaken?

great movie, good plot twist, etc. it took me until about 5 minutes after the movie to figure everything out.

the onyl thing i didn't even look at/catch was the bread and milk in damon's bag at the end. good call on that one.

NO. Nicholson/Costello was just cautious and paranoid.

Costello's guy that was shot in the chest was a cop and he even admitted so to Leonardo/Costigan on his death bed:

"I gave you the wrong address and you still showed up at right address." Leonardo reaches for his gun. "Do you wonder why I didn't say anything?" Dude dies.

Next day the TV report confirms it all, the dude was an undercover cop. Costello only said he may not have been the rat b/c he was still paranoid.

I completely disagree that this is something we can just assume. It may have been true, but your 'proof' is just speculation.
