I love this movie. I like the rat on the balcony at the end...

I really liked this movie. I thought the plot was well thought out and very intriguing. The acting was also superb on all sides. I did have a problem with one aspect of the plot:

***SPOILERS***

Costello's second police rat coming to save Damon? That seems completely illogical to me. I was also confused as to whether the one guy that died in Costello's crew, the one who was stated as being a cop the next day, if he was in fact a rat. I can't remember the dialogue, but it seems that he'd have to be. Otherwise, why didn't he mention Leo being the rat before he died?

And I read a few people raving about the character development in this movie. What development? This movies strongpoint was the interweaving plot lines. The characters, aside from perhaps Costello, were exactly the same at the end of the movie as the beginning.

Someone asked what movie was better in the last 10 years? Crash. Easily the best. Now that's character development.

Why make a point of showing Leo with the black guy at the academy? Seems to me that the black guy would have recognized him from all the survelliance of Nicholson's crew.

This movie doesn't stand the test of time.

About 3/4 of the way through, lost interest and not motivated to finish it. Story is worn out and not that great.

Wahlberg plays the same cop character that he does in subsequent comedy cop movies so it's hard to ignore that.

Nicholson's character forced.

Damon's character isn't that great.

Martin Sheens character doesn't resonate. Same with Alec Baldwin.

Decaprio is the best actor in this.

I disagree.

Maybe it was good 20-years ago and we burnt on this genre.

Maybe the actors in it are so over exposed that 20-years later it distracts from the story.

That's probably true. And you can only see the big elevator thrill for the first time one time.

Because sometimes it's not worth making a new thread and this is one of those times.

Who the decider of whether something's worth posting?

Seems like the real issue.

Your post is a prime example of one not worth posting, for your future reference.
As I am sure you are likely to watch another classic movie and decide we all need to know your opinion.
