I think his question was more asking why anyone would "love" a politician, which is sad and weird.
If I say "I love my wife and child with every ounce of my being", I am being quite literal and expressing an admiration, devotion and caring beyond measure.
Example A is absolutely normal behavior.
Example B applied to a politician, celebrity, etc is sad, weird and likely a sign of mental illness.
That said, it is sad and weird as well that people need to have this explained to them.
If you think the strange adoration some people have for a lifelong conman is normal I'm not sure what to tell you. It's no different than the Obama love from the left and just as sad. There is a big difference between what you are talking about and the people who go to his rallies or talk about how much they love him, etc., but you know that.
I mean, there are even some people who spend hours every week justifying and defending every move he makes on a college football message board and sometimes compare him to Jesus
