talk to me when trump is actually a conservative and starts talking about policy.
Trump had a policy that he tried talking about when he first started running back in '15, which was infrastructure. He also talked about helping combat meth addiction. Back then he talked about many things that would have been very helpful to the nation as a whole. I wish he would've used his bully pulpit (i.e., Twitter) more to hammer those things harder.

Now he seems only to attack his fellow Republicans or tell his maga he's going to get payback for maga on the left.

Confirmation bias.

You already hate DeSantis and think he's every horrible thing Trump calls him, so you see a false headline and it instantly confirms the untruths you already believe.

Ok, so what makes Desantis "not a conservative" then, assuming you actually read what he said?
Quote:

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that he would consider appointing Democratic 2024 White House hopeful Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to lead the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) if elected.
Why would a republican consider a democrat for any role?

Now we just need the text message exchange of LDP with someone within the GOP talking about this and it will be all complete.

BC maybe in very very rare cases, there are actual free thinking altruistic democrats who are dead on on certain issues? People like Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr., who are universally shunned and despised by modern establishment democrats for not falling in line on many issues.

I would much rather him than people like this running the CDC...

I don't like that he seems to not be very pro-2A...but not sure how that bleeds over to running a health organization and don't think there's any slippery slope there. I would love for big pharma to be held more accountable and for there to be more testing requirements for vaccines and certain meds. As it stands now, it's like the CDC and other orgs are in direct partnership with big pharma. RFK Jr. HATES that.

Who are as passionate and bold in fighting the government and big pharma corruption? And experienced in this area? You would hope so, but doubtful. I would much prefer a republican who has his exact same bull dog stances against these organizations and corporations though. I've lost faith in a lot of modern GOP, even though I will always vote for them as far lesser of two evils.

There are democrats out there that are more conservative than republicans on specific issues. Why wouldn't you consider a democrat if their viewpoint on a specific function of gov't aligns with conservative viewpoint?

Thursday's talking point has apparently been disseminated.
This isn't a talking point, and it's absurd to suggest otherwise. Clay Travis specifically asked Desantis whether he would put Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on his ticket as vice president. Here's his response, which others have partially quoted:

Quote:

Here's the issue, like, I'm aligned with him on Fauci, and the corruption, and the health bureaucracies 100 percent, and I think he's probably said, done some other things that I agree with too, but, end of the day, he's more liberal, very liberal on some I mean he used to say, I don't know if he still believes this, that if you deny climate change you should go to jail, things like that . . . so I just think at the end of the day you need someone that's going to reflect the broad values of the coalition. Yes, the medical stuff, I'm very good on that, so that does appeal to me, but there's a whole host of other things that he'd probably be out of step with? And so on that regard it's like, okay, if you're president, you know, sic him on the FDA if he'd be willing to serve, or sic him on CDC, but in terms of being Veep, there's, you know, 70 percent of the issues that he may be averse to our base on, you know that just creates an issue.
Kind of rambling, but to me he is saying, "no Clay, RFKJ won't be my VP but maybe to put him in the FDA or CDC." Even if that wasn't what he meant, Desantis made a profound blunder here. All he had to say was "no, Clay, I strenuously disagree with RFKJ on most issues, and I wouldn't consider a Democrat for VP or any other position".

I won't stop supporting Desantis over this, but it worries me that he can say something so stupid.

Because today's democrats are enemies of the state and should be treated as such. Even if they are more conservative than republicans on certain issues, there are a number of issues where they are not more conservative that would overlap into their core responsibility. Or they will get leaned on by other democrats to implement woke policies within their organization.

I just don't believe the republican party is that intellectually bankrupt that there are no better republican options.

As I said, that probably wasn't his intention. But there is no question that this is how it's being interpreted. That's why I think it was utterly stupid for him to say it. And you can't just dismiss that one doesn't necessarily lead to the other - that interpretation is entirely plausible.

If you only read one sentence of the entire quote like the OP, yes, you can interpret that way. Just like if you selectively edit out certain clips, you can Nick Sandmann look like he was accosting a poor Native American man, instead of what actually happened when you look at the whole video.

Good, okay.

Question 1. Did you read the quote?
Question 2. Do you believe the quote matches the clickbait article title that you just "left there"?
Question 3. If the answer to either one of them is "no", what is the purpose of "leaving it there"?
Question 4. If the answer is yes to both... I'm sorry, I can't think of a acceptable question to ask because that is not a reasonable position for someone who has graduated college...
