Are they building up more substantial forces this time to actually occupy the whole thing?

I've read some serious commentary from commentators I respect who seem to indicate the IDF never amassed the forces required to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, only to move from one part to another part, basically. From watching the news this seems to have been the case to me, but I really don't know (nor understand their force structure/options to amass more manpower).

Palestinians assembled to rejoice, leisurely smoking hookah as they observed the Hamas demonstration showcasing the corpses of Israeli hostages, among them a 5-year-old and a 1-year-old.

The terrorists in Gaza paraded the bodies of Israeli hostages with a spectacle and music playing in the background before handing them over to the Red Cross.

Among them were hostages Kfir and Ariel Bibas, who were kidnapped at just 10 months and 4 years old. pic.twitter.com/XC423ZqjrH

Hamas transferred the coffins of the dead hostages locked, with keys that don't open them.
The IDF still remains at some key points

Amid the crowds were some Palestinians recently released by Israel in the cease-fire deal who were supposed to be exiled from Gaza, according to the terms of the agreement. Those spotted in the crowds included Mohammed Abu Warda, who was sentenced for planning a 1996 bus bombing that killed more than 40 Israelis.
I hope @POTUS sees what the Gazans are saying about him at their Dead Jewish Baby Theater. https://t.co/aY3j1dcNJZ

This is correct. The Israelis don't have enough ground forces to fully assault Gaza while also adequately guarding their northern borders with Lebanon and Syria. That was the Iranian strategy - force the Israelis to thin their defensive lines so Hezbollah could more easily infiltrate.
Don't know about future attack plans but the Hez threat, while seriously diminished, is not completely removed. The Israeli military needed a pause/reset too, much of their fighting force comes from the reserves which removes a lot of able body working folks from the economy, placing yet another strain on their society at large.
It’s not a society. It’s barbarism. We are witnessing barbarians ululating at a dead baby. https://t.co/KxqNo4Iq6C

The Hamas terrorist organization murdered many families in the October 7th Massacre.

That parading of those children's bodies is beyond sick! What did our President mean when he said "all hell is going to break loose unless all hostages released". These animals (Hamas & followers) need to be treated like a rabid dog! Hamas is going to release just a few at a time to buy time and exhort the worst cruelty they can upon Israel.
We can now confirm that the late Oded Lifshitz was murdered, at the age of 83, in captivity by Islamic Jihad and was brought back to Israel today.

Israel has narrowly avoided mass carnage after three empty buses exploded into fireballs tonight, with officials warning the blazes could have been fatal but detonators' timers had been set for the wrong time.
Shocking footage shows smoke rising into the sky while fire leaps from the vehicles, with snaps of the aftermath showing the charred remains.
Israeli forces quickly labelled the horror, which unfolded around 9pm local time, a 'suspected terror attack' as more bombs were found on other buses.
Quote:
Police are investigating the explosion adding 'large forces are at the scenes, searching for suspects'.
A defence official has stated incendiary devices were accidentally set for 9pm instead of 9am.
Local forces confirmed three bombs exploded while two were being defused at separate locations with fears 'hundreds could have died' had the devices set off as intended.
A spokesman said: 'These are identical explosive devices with a timer. Three have detonated, and two additional ones have been located and are currently being neutralised.'
Hamas's Tulkarm battalion has reportedly hinted at responsibility for the explosions.
BREAKING: Israeli officials just released the results from the identification process. Tragically, baby Kfir and Ariel Bibas were confirmed as dead. According to the results, the third body that was returned was not the mother, Shiri Bibas. My heart breaks for the Bibas family.…

Because Israel is fighting a war using rules instead of the goal to wipe the enemy out.bkag9824 said:Don't underestimate them.4 said:

They have shown an incredible resiliency and ability to withstand a year+ of constant bombardment, and more importantly still have living hostages that the Israelis very much want back alive.
Said it before, but I wouldn't want to be the last living hostage in Gaza. Hamas has 0 incentive to actually give them back to the Israelis. Hamas knows Israel is going to clean house, especially now that their brothers in the West Bank have attempted this mass bombing, once the last living hostage is returned.
Will be very interesting to see how the Israeli's respond to this bombing attempt. They were, in a word, lucky.
Edit - And the intel agencies over there have a lot of explaining to do, now more so than ever after 10/7, how these bombs made their way onto buses.
Tier one guys, about to get phone calls that they get to shoot at live targets.lb sand said:
