So the grandparents, who worked and the money are not allowed to spend it in whatever legal way they desire, but rather have to save it for their children's inheritance? Wow, what an entitled comment.

There's nothing I can find in the Bible about gambling in casinos. I wouldn't waste my money like that. Some grandparents have gambled away the inheritance of their children. So it does make me pause and not see it as profitable or wise in spending money.
But if they are going to do it, then 20% goes to homeless infrastructure. Deal?

Wow casinos in Texas? There go the economies in Louisiana, Oklahoma and beyond. Now all we will need is a couple of nuclear plants and we can tell washington DC to Fk off.
Is it racists to shutdown a honest American Native's Casino?Artimus Gordon said:

So why gamble if the house wins that big. Never understood it. Hope it never sees the light of day or night in Texas.kb2001 said:Casinos are far more lucrative than a basketball team, that's probably one reason.agsalaska said:
I have no idea if that is true or not, but they would be crazy to move or really change the product too much. Any decent Mavs ticket is at least $150. Why mess with that.

I'll go for it if 20% of the profit made by casinos goes to job training, food, and other services for the homeless population.
Btw, is the state lotto supporting public schools?

Casinos are evil establishments. They prey on human concupiscence, and often disproportionately impact those with least means to afford the risk.
Instead invest in the poor and other worthwhile endeavors.

How about no? Us reasonable adults should be allowed to make sports wagers as we please.

You can justify any evil behavior with this sentiment.
It is clear that government should not in any way support or subsidize these establishments for the greater good, and to protect basic human dignity.
As for allowing it through the free market, that is the area of compromise.

What if the issue wasn't casinos, but merely making it legal to make sports bets online either through a website or an app on your phone? All the complaints about the bums descending into your Houston suburb and the stench of marijuana are gone now.
same end result

Mary J, legalized gambling, and looser abortion laws would all pass a vote in TX, that is why it will never be put up for a vote

No...they didn't.TXAGBQ76 said:
Yeah, I've got a big picture of that.
Didn't they replace a big piece of the education budget and replace it with lotto dollars? If true, it was a net gain of zero- but technically they did what they said.
I disagree, because I know many addicts who have ruined their families and lives because of gamblingBassCowboy33 said:I'd argue that alcohol destroys a lot more people than gambling does.TexasAGGIEinAR said:Alcohol, tobacco and lottery destroy people as well, but they're alive and well in Texas. It really highlights how different people look for different things when choosing where to live. It makes you think about all the choices we make to find enjoyment and unwind, doesn't it? Whether it's wide-open spaces or city life, everyone has their own way to relax. Speaking of online entertainment, I recently came across https://spincity777kasyno.com. For anyone in Poland looking for a bit of online fun, it seems to have a wide variety of games and some bonus offers. Just another option out there when you're considering different ways to spend your downtime#1 said:
Love being born and raised in Texas. It's the greatest state in the USA. But it's time to legalize gambling.

Casino gambling is dumb.
It's called entertainment. I'm not much of a gambler but I went to Vegas for the first round of March Madness and bet on games and had an absolute blast with my buddies and the other friends we made watching those games.ttu_85 said:So why gamble if the house wins that big. You really want to gamble but leverage your win/loss with skill, play the stock market or invest in Start-ups.
