Found this gem on a "Zero Covid Community" on Reddit:
There are people who are still mentally cripped by the overreaction to Covid. That whole subreddit is hilarious (and in a way, sad).

I absolutely do judge people that are still wearing masks. It's the clearest sign of delusion.
This absolute winner at life actually tried to require Covid testing for an event they were not hosting, just attending.Quote:
worked up the courage to ask my friends to test before our friendsgiving and one is refusing
so frustrated. actually, the girl who's refusing isn't a friend of mine, she's the housemate of my friend who's supposed to be hosting. my friend said she "isn't going to force people to test" when i politely requested it and offered to bring the tests lol. everyone in my friend group is staunchly leftist and generally very compassionate and accommodating so i'm pretty surprised (although not incredibly so, because this particular friend has been weird to me before).
waiting to see if we can have someone else host it instead but just feeling disappointed in people rn :/
edit: aw i just talked to one of my other friends who was going and he offered to host a renegade friendsgiving with me where we require people to test :') yay! we're gonna rally up our other friends that are down (which will prob be most of them i think)
edit 2 (11/17): i ended up having a beautiful, covid-safe friendsgiving last night with the friends who supported me! everyone was happy to test and we had a delicious feast and lovely conversation. i felt so loved and safe. (meanwhile, the girl who was refusing precautions got plastered at her friendsgiving and was drunk texting my supportive friend, begging him to stay friends with her. i don't think she had a very good night.)
thank you all for your affirmations and support! i hope everyone here has or is able to find community this supportive as well

I literally lost my 2 biggest friend groups over this. They didn't want to ask people to test. Horrific.

I honestly don't understand people. What's the problem with testing when you are literally providing everything and making all the effort? Very frustrating.

Renegade Friendsgiving! I love it!! People refusing to test is so weird. They act like you're asking them to pull their pants down or something else weird and invasive. If you're so confident that you're healthy, just take the test (especially when someone else is providing it!)

I'm not reassured with people testing. I mean for me to feel comfortable, people would need to take mitigating measures at least a week prior (masking, not eating in indoor setting around strangers, etc) and test regularly. the one time I had covid, I tested negative for days while having symptoms. don't trust people are testing accurately or thinking one negative test means they are in the clear

The last time something similar happened I treated a "won't test" as declining to attend. "Okay, we'll be sorry to miss you but maybe we can catch up another time."
Most of my family didn't attend my wedding because I required Covid testing and when they ask me about it now I tell them I didn't want anyone getting sick because they chose to attend an event I was hosting.
