GMO's are inert and have no impact on anything. Glyphosate is inert and has no nutritional value.
Pesticides were MUCH more dangerous in the 50's.

If anyone is interested in what is really responsible for the obesity epidemic and health issues, sit up in your recliner, put down your smart phone, open up your laptop, and search physical activity. The magical little screen will show pictures of people doing things…

When a body designed to hunt and gather spends all day every day sitting on a cushion staring at a screen, bad things happen.
You can't out exercise a bad diet. If you ran a 10K a day, you will only burn about 700 calories. A single Whataburger with fries and a coke is like 2000 calories.

A #1 whataburger is only 590 calories.

It's what I'm saying, they arent all bad. Now you're not getting your vitamins but you're not gaining weight especially if you hold the bread

Weight loss is 99% diet
Good for you?

Weight MAINTENANCE is 99% diet
Weight LOSS is 70% diet, 30% mental
SIGNIFICANT weight loss (over 100lb) is 30% diet, 50% mental, and 20% physical

And if you haven't noticed by everyone's debt and lack of savings there is a significant percentage of the population without enough willpower to lose any significant amount of weight.

Its nearly impossible to have significant weight loss for any large percentage of the overweight population without outside assistance of some sort. That can take the form or personal trainer/nutritionist, surgery, and/or drugs.

People underestimate how many calories they eat and overestimate calories they burn.

Which is why ozempic works. People stop eating as much and the pounds fall off. It is really simple.

It isn't easy for many but it is still very simple.

And the weight comes back when patients go off the medicine. Just like with the surgical approach. The problem is behavioral and lack of education regarding the crappy food being consumed.

Diet and exercise is the only way to

It's just consistency and knowing what you are trying to accomplish.
  • How to eat
  • what to eat
  • when to eat
  • how to exercise
  • what exercises to do
  • when can you exercise
  • including resistance/strength training - if you enjoy walking, add some weight to a vest or backpack
  • keeping a journal of some kind of what you eat/drink, when you eat, what exercises you do, when you do them, and the progress you are making.

Nobody cares. Work Harder

True. I have no right talking about significant weight loss. That's just the little self-reminder I use when trying to lose a few pounds.

I only have antidotal observations from airplanes, but the number of "expander seat belts" that are requested per flight is usually 3 on a weekday flight (not weekend).

Maybe the antidote for this would be an obesity surcharge to fly.

Well fine, eat three of them a day and walk for 15 mins and you'll be quickly losing weight.

3500 calories per 1 lb of fat. 9 calories per gram of fat.

4 calories per gram of carbs and protein

7 calories per gram of alcohol

While drinking your body is focusing on processing that alcohol even if you're in a caloric deficit.

It blows my mind how stupid most people are about nutrition, fat loss, and exercise.

Glp-1's should come with a concise yet clear to understand guide on how to lose weight without a drug that kills your hunger and explain why you are losing weight for the first time (or first time in ages)

You are correct on the #1, but that is bare bones, no cheese, fries or drink. A large percentage get #1, add cheese, super size it, and then have a few 44 oz DP's while dining in you are getting near 2000 calories.

Whataburger patties are $2 each. My favorite lunch is 3 patties and an ice water.

That's like saying you can be sober by going to bars and getting a coke or water. Um yeah you might technically be right but it kind of destroys the main point of going and getting the fast food anyways.

Companies presently spend billions trying to get you to:
Eat sugar
Drink alcohol
Eat more sugar
Drink sugar.

You don't think they are going to be effective in getting a large number of people to indulge in bad choices? Sure there is personal responsibility but if you compared the number of decisions or healthy choices a person in the 1950s has to make versus now it isn't in the same planet.

That being said the only way you (a singular person not you you) will get healthier is to make better choices and take on that ownership. But looking at societal impacts it is intellectually dumb to say oh it is just people being more lazy or making bad choices now.

Also the seed oils are straight up bad for you. They are in everything. Go try to buy just butter. See how many have vegetable oil or canola oil in them. It will be most of them.

Sure you can. If you eat a single chicken mcnugget and run marathons every day. I mean, anything is really possible if you twist the numbers just right.

If someone is overweight or out of shape, it comes down to one of two factors:

1) They want to be
2) They don't want to do what it takes to change it

That's it.

We can gripe about quality of food, lack of education, how expensive it is to eat right, how much exercise equipment costs, etc. but the bottom line is there are resources in this country to eat right and get into shape if you really want to - no matter the situation.

You can have all the resources in the world at your fingertips, but none of that matters if there isn't a will to get it done. Being in shape is not easy for most people - and SURPRISE people are lazy, don't want to put in the effort, and want an easy way out. People who want it will find a way to get it done.

#2 for me. I'm lazy AF when not at work.

I need to change that asap as I'm getting old

I agree, the question is how in a free society does one improve on this?

Should the government legislate what Hostess or Pepsi or Budweiser serve?
Should the government track what you or your family are eating?
Should the government ban legal pharmaceutical commercials?

I'm not looking to make a point, but I wonder how much we want government involved
