Was DEI directly responsible for this? I don't know. I worked for the USDA in Ag Research for a while. I knew my boss, the leader of the research group we were in, and the Director of the Experiment Station, essentially my three direct bosses.

False comparisons for that increase. Of course 2023 had significantly increased numbers because 2023 was the year air travel and number of flights were increasing significantly. 2022 was still on significantly reduced number of flights due to Covid (not here to debate the merits of Covid protocols but the fact remains that there were significant increases in number of overall flights from 2022 to 2023).

From what I found there were around 9mm departures in 23 and 8.5mm in 2022 taking in to account both domestic and intl. I didn't include private or cargo in those numbers. I don't think that difference justifies a 65% increase in significant incidents and certainly isn't misrepresenting the data. These numbers were taken from a government website.
