Government needs to be reduced. It has been artificially expanded to the point the anti-Musk was able to abuse the US Govt System and suck out $ and bucket of $, and now those jobs have to go away. Instead of being mad at Trump for doing what is in the best interest of the US, the anger should be focused on the *******s that helped create and continue to maintain this corrupt system of fraud and abuse. Tar and feather them.

The average voting America owns part of this…..maybe next time we will be smarter with our vote.

Education is all about the parents imo. Bad schools have bad parents, and vouchers won't change that.

I think you could swap out a bad school and good school's teachers, principals..etc and the kids parenting would remain the "good school"

Hmm, not so sure, This is confusing.

Quote:

Then, on page 37, as it reached its third of four counts, the lawsuit switches gears, arguing not for an excision of the new language, but the elimination of Section 504 entirely. The suit argues that Section 504 is "coercive, untethered to the federal interest in disability, and unfairly retroactive" and therefore unconstitutional.

But we don't spend the most on the child.

None of which has anything to do with the department of education. It is nothing but a layer of bureaucracy that gives leftists jobs and takes money from taxpayers.

It in no way improves education, nor does it encourage parental involvement.

Just found out my freshman daughter has two teachers at CSHS vocal about the importance of the doe. Also telling their classes that school vouchers are bad. She wouldn't give me their names.

True.

Vouchers will however allow the kids with good parents to be able to escape classrooms full of bad kids. IMO the primary beneficiaries will be lower income parents (regardless of race), which is a great thing. They obviously have less options due to less money.

I assume DOE is largely responsible for schools being unable to ditch the troublemakers, as it would make sense for Dems/Leftists to screw that up too.

You missed the whole point of my post. The whole point of my post was for me, the student loans helped. It was a low rate, and it paid it off within a few years. Without it, yes I probably could have still done it, but I had confidence in myself that I was going to pay it off and I did.

You brought up the whole special bit: now you are trying to put it back on me. I never said never said I was anything different. No sh&t a hole I know I wasn't different than a lot of kids . And yes i had friends that worked. And for the record i graduate in 99 also.

You came at me jack$s first.

This has been my experience with the public schools sytem in Austin, Tx.
They don't give a shi$ about the kids.
Instead they want to rename schools, have Gay pride walks, and protests because Roe v Wade was overturned.

They are mental. There is no reasoning with these folks. These #MeToo morons turned an entire generation of young men against women. The damage will be felt for decades (even if it results in Rs winning elections).

A lot to be said for this.

My kids go to a Title 1 school. A mile up the road in the same shared neighborhood is a bigger, more affluent non Title 1 school. Both elementary schools.

We have a slightly different socioeconomic makeup of our students and parents but our parents are really involved and supportive of our school as much as the richer school up the road and both are good.

The loans helped andpersonally I don't think I would have made it through.

Fact s you had help as the math doesn't work if you didn't

Wow.. ok

First, I wasn't calling you special. You did what a lot of people did and still do. That would be the opposite of special.

Those loans are the main drivers of tuition. That's the math

And I absolutely ****ing did pay my way through school on my own. And so did most of my friends. We worked hard and lived poor. I went to two home football games after my fish year amd can count on one hand how many other sporting or even on campus events I went to. We didn't have sports passes or meal plans or parking passes or any of that. I lived on first street and walked. I bartended on NG and delivered pizzas. I bet I worked 50 hours a week 50:weeks a year back then. I took the minimum possible hours at A&M and the most I could take at Blinn. I was at Blinn the day they opened the Bryan campus.

When I said that was nothing special it wasn't. Lots of people including most of my coworkers did the same thing. Took me five years and a summer. Took my then girlfriend now wife 6.5. Graduated debt free.

Last, I get that it's hard to believe because it is impossible nowadays. And I don't recognize you as a poster, but we don't directly call each other liars without being able to back it up. There are lots of posters on this page that paid their own way including a couple I was in school with that were on the game thread tonight. You can do better than that.

There is really no reason for you to respond. Im moving on.
One other thing you are full of cr*p on. I was taking courses at blinn in Bryan in the summer of 94. My brother went there two years before I did, The Bryan campus was open a long time before you went there. I wonder if anything you said is true.

I went to school between 1984 and 1990.

My first semester it was $4 credit hour. Later it went to $12/hr. Then crept up. At that time you could be poor and work and pay off school. Heck books and living expenses were your biggest expense.

Man I'm pretty sure they opened it in 95. But maybe I'm wrong. I feel like my first year there was the year it opened. I know there was still a lot of new construction on it because I had a roommate that worked on it. But Maybe it had been open before that.

I really have no idea why you are being such an AHole. I didn't attack you at all. I just used your quote as a common example of what drives these current tuition rates. If it makes you feel better calling me a liar go for it. I couldn't care less. I'm guessing after years of dealing with your student debt burden it's easier to just deny the fact that others did it without all of that. That's cool. Whatever man. Have a great day.

I looked it upon the Blinn college history. Blinn was in Bryan starting in 1970. I took 6 hours of credit at Blinn in the summer of 94 to get some college credit. But it was well established there in 94 when I was there. No construction anywhere. Below is taken from the blinn website,

"In 1970, after Allen Academy closed its junior college division, Blinn opened a new location in Bryan. In 1997, the College's programs in Bryan and College Station were consolidated at the Bryan Campus on Villa Maria."

You like to dish it out but you can't take it when someone pushes back at your cr8p. Typical blowhard, you are sensitive and weak.

I was glad I had the student loans back then. And I would do the same thing today. I was making six figures working for others, then started my own engineering firm in 2012. Like I said, paying of my student loans over two or three years was easy for me as I was trained to live frugal. Personally I think it is a travesty if the Trump kills the financial aid student loan program . And that is coming from somebody that flew his flags in my yard, yard signs, and spoke with others into voting for Trump. I support just about everything Doge is doing, except two or three possible things.

Took a couple Blinn classes in '92 and '93.

It was in a strip center type setting. There wasn't a local "campus" that I was aware of.

AgAlaska, we called that living "Spartan." We were poor and skin & bones. Would pick up coins off the sidewalk and check the TV lounge couch cushions for loose change just to buy a Tuesday "Survival Kit" from Dudley's.

$2 bought a sandwich, bag of chips and soda.

Worked on campus at the Turbomachinery lab and off campus doing construction. My buddies and I figured out that I may have spent only 12 weekends in CS during my time there. Lived in Walton without AC.

Me and my buddies love to talk about how little we had and yet loved every minute of it. Good times. Simple.

Graduated with zero debt and an appreciation for my education. Paid 100% of my college on my own. Mays School of Business Dec '93.

I heard the same thing when when I was in high school. And President Reagan was still in office. The issue here isn't the teachers union, at least in Texas. The real problem is self selection. People who are conservative Republicans generally don't go into education. They choose other fields of study. Same with journalism, social work and other areas dominated by liberals. You don't have to indoctrinate those folks. They're there because they already buy in.

In the current system, not only do public schools in nicer areas cross subsidize the public schools in poor areas, but also the system thrives on forcing private school kids to still pay for public schools.

These poor area schools also include those with massive proportions of illegal aliens.

Leftists don't want a voucher system put in place, even if it accounts for the same level of cross subsidy on day 1. Why? Because it makes it A LOT easier to calculate just how many dollars are being taken and redistributed and one day average taxpayers might start questioning what's being forced upon them.

Same reason leftists want to completely takeover healthcare. Don't want average taxpayers realizing they are paying for 150% of their cost through direct premium cross substation, and another 100% of their cost buried in federal taxes, sales taxes and property taxes.

Man I still don't understand what your problem is. I never said anything to you and you are just completely unhinged. What exactly did I 'dish out' and what exactly are you ' pushing back on'? You straight called me a liar about paying my way through school, which in turn called a lot of us on here liars, and now I am sensitive and weak? You sure do talk a lot at anonymous **** to people. Why? I have tried a couple of times to just say 'move on' but you can't even do that. Now you are stuck on me misremembering by one year the open date of Blinn? Well done.

Reminder, the only thing I said was the student loan programs you spoke of was the main driver of tuition increases and why it's impossible today to pay your way through school like we used to do. That's it. That's all I said. That one statement has upset you so much that you have been personally attacking me for days now. And for the record that statement is 100% true.

It's ok though. You are safe here on an anonymous message board. You can attack me all you want buddy. You must get quite a bit of satisfaction from it.
