A lot of posters are major NIMBYs when it comes to personal freedom. They are only conservative (the commonly accepted definition of the past 50 years of less government intrusion) when it comes to theoretical discussion. As soon as it can become a practical reality they turn into the church lady from SNL.
Casinos don't hold a candle to the damage that the gambling apps already do. Any gambling addict is already getting their fix that way, whether Texas "legalizes" gambling or not. It's a dishonest argument. Most just don't want a casino near them because they don't want their property values to be affected, and have no issue with a statewide ban as a result.
