No kidding.

I get that Catholicism is often complex and difficult for the "southern Baptist" types to understand, but the fact they are willfully ignorant… and then purport to tell me how it works, grinds my gears.

Guess it just raises the question as to why you need the clergy then.

Time to call it a day like Ratzinger did. Retire and enjoy your days.

I liked this Pope as he said some positive stuff. Usually all they care about is "heathens" and how to "convert the world" which is total bs.

Time for a new modern pope.
A new modern Pope looks like what?

The "Catholic Church" is found nowhere in scripture.

Salvation alone by Faith alone through Christ alone is.

…but why?

If this pope knows Jesus and is heaven-bound, isn't death a victory?
The benefit of recovery would only be present if this pope is somehow better for those on Earth than his replacement will be… which is also an odd take if you hold that the papacy is ordained by God & that God imbued papal infallibility in each…

Yep. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through me."-- John 14:6.

The thief on the cross was saved. The church played no role.

The power structure of the Catholic Church, much like many Western countries now, is beyond repair.

For the Catholics on here, please do not take this as me bashing on your faith. I live in a heavily Catholic community and support many of their causes and charities locally. They do plenty good. I do find the Vatican and larger hierarchy repulsive though.
Trying to have this conversation with my deeply devout Catholic parent's is extremely tough. My parent's walk the walk. They both donate well over 40 hours a week in service of the church, and they donate well above their 10%. I gladly jump in where I can and support our local Catholic charities, but I will do everything in my power to make sure the Vatican (and the Catholic Charities of San Antonio) never get a dime of my money.

I'm not claiming that a church doesn't need pastors. Just responding to the claim that it's "Catholic bashing" to point out the faults of the bureaucracy of the Catholic Church. Anytime someone posits that the Catholic Church doesn't hold a monopoly on the teachings of Christ or questions the hierarchy, they are accused of Catholic bashing.

The "Catholic Church" is found nowhere in scripture.

Salvation alone by Faith alone through Christ alone is.
It also fails a simple logic test: would an apostle such as Thomas (and his churches) be unsaved because they were physically located elsewhere and not able to subordinate to Peter's church? If the Catholic Church (formal) is necessary for salvation than all who aren't claimed within her lineage necessarily fall out - including martyred apostles.

Still, regardless of what any human thinks, only He knows the Pope's heart.

This Pope is a communist, always has been, and one thing about communists, their true religion is their politics.

I've always wondered how the supposed leader of a Christian Church can support a political movement that expressly denies God and persecutes His followers?

I was not implying anything about his faith. Just that he needs to leave the Church to its own devices. I am sure he needs to repent, though.

Sayings and scriptures are very cool and all, but none of them are equal to what He knows and feels about the Pope.

I'd imagine if He was displeased with the Pope, He'd have called him home to heaven by now.

Im probably going to get ripped and I dont care.

I'm SB but I am cool with anyone that loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind. This interdenominational infighting is stupid garbage. God knows all of our hearts and I am convinced there are many Catholics that do infact love the Lord with all their heart, mind, and soul.

Some of you people want to fling poo at your team mates while Islam wants to kill or convert you and communist want to put you in gulags. This crap is beyond stupid, especially given God is easily big enough to judge us all. You either trust Him or you dont.

I would say that it is pretty arrogant to assume you know what God would or would not do in any circumstance.

Furthermore the assumption that God kills everyone who acts against His virtues is pretty ridiculous.

If that was the case Hitler, Genghis, Mao, and Stalin would have been struck by a bolt of lightning so we know that is not how He tends to operate.

Salvation in Christ is a profoundly simple concept. Men love to entangle the Gospel and if you think complexity and difficulty is a plus, then I humbly ask you to carefully consider how that lines up with the words of Christ. I'm not saying there aren't mysteries and paradoxes, but I challenge Roman Church followers to look at the Church in Acts and compare it to what we see today. The two are nothing alike and it takes no scholar to see that.

Rested well overnight. Is thankful for the letters and drawings he received from other patients at the hospital. Reading the newspaper this morning as is his routine. Will have another update later this evening. No fever.

Probably not that far away from discharge (in my opinion).
