Do some research. Had the U.S.A. not broken their promise to grow NATO back in 1994, none of this would ever have happened. But after breaking their promise, NATO grew by 11 countries. Then several years ago, the U.S. decided to break another agreement regarding the ABM treaty, leaving it, then putting Anti Ballistic Missiles batteries in those NATO nations bordering Russia.
Then the talk of adding the Ukraine to NATO. I'm pretty certain Russia acted to protect itself.

Also, I don't see anyone here saying that it would be a good idea to let Russia take Kiev. Pretty much the whole country was aligned about stopping that.

There are several here who have quite literally said they want to see this happen.

If we or europe are unwilling to put our militaries into the fight, then yes. I don't think anyone outside ukriane is actually willing to put boots on the ground in ukraine and therefore Russia will get the land they have gained.

The ukes cannot push them out.

Yep, at this stage it's either get peace now and make Putin a winner of the treaty or don't get peace and give Putin terms to dictate unconditional surrender.

The war currently is like an average heavyweight boxer versus a midget. You can the midget all the best equipment and boxing training in the world, but they're still going to lose, because they're a midget.

Pretty sure Russia won't get Kiev, which is what Putin really wanted.

You going on the record to say that Russia will be handed over the keys to Kiev by Trump, because that is what you are implying.
Is it? Because his partial mobilization, and words since the SMO began have not indicated that.

I think what's happened is that since Trump defunded USAID and the attendant media outlets/censorship regimes, truth is getting out. Ukraine does not have freedom of speech, religion, commerce, travel, or political parties. This 'battle for democracy/freedom' is hardly that, and hasn't been.

Zelensky's been going hard after his political rivals this month, likely anticipating a difficult task to remain in power, which is also why he is mouthing off about how he can't be replaced right now.

Some of the usual vague mis-statements are being made now I see, but for the record I've always maintained the safest course of action was for the Russians to perceive they were winning/hitting their objectives (which they have for the vast majority of the war), for America, as in that case they would be unlikely to escalate otherwise (nukes, other countries etc). I haven't seen any posters advocating they literally want Russians to take Kiev, but whatever. I just don't care who runs the place as long as it's not on my dime/threatening America.

The US has given about $175 B to Ukraine since the war started. About $500 for every man, woman and child in America.

We're done.

Yes for the first 5 months of the war, when they turned back the original Russian invasion.

Right now Russia controls a far eastern part of Ukraine. For them to get all of Ukraine's minerals it will result in a massive loss of lives, even if we stop aiding Ukraine. It's complete naivety to think Ukrainians in the central and western parts will simply lay down for Russia. Many would rather die in insurgency. They loathe Russians in those areas

He's in year 6 of his 5 year term

Declared martial law Feb 2022 and has banned elections since then

Banned 11 political parties

Passed law in 2022 to censor journalists and combined all news into 1 gov't station

Journalists investigating his corruption get conscripted and thrown on the front lines to die

Even Saddam Hussein held elections!"

Yeah, he's putting words in our mouths.

At the beginning of this war, I supported the ukes 100%. I was happy that we were giving support to them, especially older weapons. It doesnt even bother me we gave them money as it was a pretty good return on our investment to show the illegitimatcy of russia's mulitary prowless.

However, it's clear this war needs to end and that doesn't happen without Russia keeping the land it has conquered. Perhaps there can be a land swap with what Ukraine holds in kursk

I think 100% of this war is on putin. Theres 0 circumstance that was on the table which could have justified this invasion, now or in 2014. But unless us and the europeans are willing to send our own men to fight, this war will not end in a Ukrainian victory. Its mostly a draw now and will be so a year from now, at best.

And yes, the people in Carolina, Maui, and California deserve the money sent to ukriane first, before we burn it in ukraine

Why would Japan, China, Canada, or Australia care enough to send troops any more about Ukraine than they do Zimbabwe? (aside from possibly placating the U.S.)
