Is it just me or does it seem like nobody cares about this shutdown and even the media somewhat indifferent. I guess it's because it's the democrats that shut it down, if the republicans would have the country would be in the verge of collapse in the media.

Ensuring Continued Accountability in Federal Hiring (Trump EO Tracker)
Wednesday, October 15, 2025
Imposes a government-wide freeze on civilian hiring across all executive departments and agencies, except for positions tied to national security, immigration enforcement, and public safety.
Requires agencies to establish Strategic Hiring Committees, submit Annual Staffing Plans and quarterly updates to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and align all hiring with the administration's priorities under the Merit Hiring Plan.

Military and those connected are feeling it in different ways. Had an army customer moving to Texas today, but dry goods will not be moved until after this is all over.Catag94 said:
It will be a bigger deal come Mid-November when SNAP stops. I just don't see how Media will be able to ignore it.

Also have a renter who is a nurse on a military base. She told me she won't be able to pay until it's over. Of course I know she'll get her full pay, so I'm not concerned.

There are a ton of people working knowing they aren't getting a paycheck for a while so that things that are deemed essential by the presidents administration continue to move along. My guess is people would feel the effects of the shutdown a lot more if those functions stopped happening.

Folks with cushy jobs with the KNOWN risk of getting a delayed paycheck have to suck it up with the KNOWN risk actually happens.

Maybe those people should just work when their employer is willing to pay them and shut down all air travel.

Good luck with that. Fire them and lose all benefits "earned" (lol) to date.
Don't show up when told? Don't show up ever.

Let me know when there are people in the general public can backfill ATC - good luck filling all these "essential work" positions where people are working without having a clue when they will get paid for their work.
seems like for such cushy jobs they wouldn't have such a hard time filling them.

Listened to Dr Gupta's podcast on this topic and him and his guest were all doom and gloom about dropping the expanded subsidies for obamacare plans. No mention that this is just a way to give tax dollars to big insurance, no mention that it is not sustainable, no mention that it only INCREASES the cost of premiums due to the individual not having to foot the bill. Just all feels and worrying about the poor working people who cannot afford actual premiums.
No mention of getting the government out of it and allow market to control costs, no mention of going to major medical where you pay directly for routine stuff and have coverage for catastrophic problems (like auto insurance).
Such a mess, the more government gets involved the worse it gets and the lefties cannot see it.

Thats not what I took from that at all. I took it as they were going to go try to pull a few dems away from Schumer by beating the drum that Schumer is beholden to the marxists in NY and they will be too if they keep going along with him.
