I said this yesterday and will absolutely stand by it:

The NETWORK, his employeer, was 100% right to fire him and anyone involved in that. Period. Full stop. His crap was reprehensible and he deserved to be fired... that's not a free speech issue.

The govt making threats towards said employeer IS a free speech issue, and is some typical ...well liberal garbage that has become normalized.

That is the exact wording used by the FCC chair regarding FCC licenses, so maybe you could ask him for that education.

I already said the affiliates pressured ABC not the fcc want to try again?

What is the point of this thread, no one on the right has censored free speech?

OP, if it makes you feel any better.......most people on the right don't like Bondi and would prefer someone else in her seat. That said, nobody on the right wants to censor any free speech. As has been pointed out, companies have the right to hire/fire employees for not representing them and/or doing things that cause any backlash upon them. I know that you didn't bring up Kimmel, but he has certainly sparked this debate, ABC made that choice to fire him, not anyone in the Government. They are locally affiliated and a lot of local broadcast stations were getting pushback from their viewers so they made a choice which they have every right to do. Not only that, but the clown was only getting about 115k viewers on a nightly basis.

People on the right bringing these videos, posts, etc to people's employers and letting the employers choose what to do with them is the very definition of free speech. Especially when those videos/posts are celebrating the murder of an innocent, Christian man and inciting further violence. It's way less of an infringement on people than companies firing them for not getting an experimental Covid vaccine.

FCC's jurisdiction:
1. The "Public Interest, Convenience, and Necessity" Mandate
The FCC's authority is derived from the Communications Act of 1934, which grants it the power to regulate broadcast media in the "public interest." This broad mandate has been interpreted by the courts and the commission itself over the years to include:
Content Decency: The FCC can regulate obscene, indecent, and profane content.
Obscene content is not protected by the First Amendment and is prohibited at all times.
Indecent and profane content are protected by the First Amendment but can be restricted to hours when children are less likely to be in the audience (the "safe harbor" period, typically 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
The FCC defines these terms based on a "patently offensive" standard, taking into account the context of the broadcast, its explicitness, and whether it is fleeting or repeated.

Everyone has freedom of speech - you, me, Kimmell, etc.

But every one of our employers can determine if our "expression" is consistent with their brand.

The OP is concerned after, most likely, lapping up some leftist propaganda.

Taking licenses away is excessive and would rightly be risky. Would much prefer a fine system for definite lies and physical violence peddling. Not protracted cases --- you just get dinged in a way you feel every way want to talk like an a---. And it might lose its attraction.

I would hope there would be more criticism of this administration even just about the rhetoric. Like everyone, I have come to take these sorts of comments as provocative but not serious but I still wish our Commander-In-Chief could not riff in such an idiotic manner.

Trump floats stripping networks critical of him of their broadcast licenses
"They're giving me all this bad press, and they're getting a license," the president said.

President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that networks should lose their broadcast licenses if their on-air talent is critical of him.

"They're giving me all this bad press, and they're getting a license," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One when asked if Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr should go after other talk show hosts after Jimmy Kimmel was suspended from the air. "I would think maybe their license should be taken away."

He added: "When you have a network and you have evening shows and all they do is hit Trump, that's all they do that license, they're not allowed to do that. They're an arm of the Democrat Party."

I don't think anyone LIKES this, but we tolerate it because...well, because that's what the left is forcing us to do.

If the right doesn't censor the left do you really think the left will stop censoring the right? Of course they won't. It would be like some person being abused by their spouse that keeps taking the abuse day after day, year after year. Eventually you can't take it anymore and say f*** it. Eventually when a leftist muzzles your speech you might feel the same way.

Did Carr go directly to those affiliates or ABC? No? Then it doesn't fall under the precedent does it? It's far less than what Biden's administration was allowed to do. Nope.

So the ends justify the means? I would rather the GOP return the standard back to where it should be. Cancel culture is wrong no matter the source of the movement.

Correct. The idea that an employer can't set their tone is absurd. Can a Serbian manager be force to accept Islamist-rants by an employee against the Orthodox? No. Above all, to be an employee means subordinate. If something rankles too much, you walk, not demand your tone be set.

IMO this is a similar situation (kinda) to the USAID/NGO situation, although it concerns public airways vs public funds (tax dollars). They are both tools used to reach ultimate goals of the Left.

It's a stacked deck. For many, many years the Democrats have used our own resources against us - by pumping out biased narratives 24/7/365, lying/gaslighting the folks at every turn, in a determined effort to gain complete control of our country.

The scheme has been uncovered and it's about damn time we get our country back on track.............just in the nick of time too.

Serious question:

How do people get these memes ready so quick? I posted at sometime between 8:40 and 8:41, and you had this ready to go by 8:41. Do they have an arsenal of memes ready to go? I can't even post a pic here without screwing up the html code and having to edit. But in less than a minute, you decided what you'd post, found the image, framed the proper html and posted. All this within a minute and before anyone else could post.

I have always voted conservative because I saw it as the best option to avoid authoritarianism. I dismissed people saying the right was authoritarian. But, after the last few days and Bondi's statement, I really don't know anymore. To hear a conservative AG spew **** about hate speech sent a chill up my spine. Sure I despise the left and what they say, but they have the right to say it.

I'm sure many will reply with "are you concerned?" and the standard braindead mocking replies. Others will engage in ad hominem attacks. People will say that private companies have the right to censor - sure they do…and I'd probably have bought that argument until I heard what Bondi said. I've been outspoken about the leftists, but if you support this stuff, **** YOU TOO.

If you support this, you are no better than the leftists that quelled free speech the last decade.

Queso1,

Rocky the Dog explained his methodology and reservoir of memes once in an intriguing post. Another part of your answer is many of these are repeat memes, and from earlier, just re-posted.That's an example, and then finally, yes, some new ones that are perfect pop up with bewildering speed. So its not just one answer.

Freedom of speech is not free from consequences.

Freedom of speech also doesn't gaurantee you a specific platform.

Just because Kimmel had been on network television was no guarantee he would be there forever. He excersized his free speech there and the company he worked for excersized their right as his employer to remove him from their platform.

It's not complicated, and there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, the market did what free markets do. The demand for Kimmel was exceeded by his supply of bull****.

The founding fathers intended for citizens to be able to get on TikTok and perform macabre celebrations of an innocent American citizen's public murder.

They also wanted Texas St students to be able to crash a vigil and mockingly re-enact that murder as well while calling other students 'N*****R'.

That is what you are saying.
