Trump's repeated lie is that these cities are out of control.
When the city leadership, their local police, and state governors are repeatedly telling you that they have things under control and DO NOT NEED NATIONAL GUARD, that is it. Leave them alone.
State's rights include calling up the NG. The local people know best whether they need NG or not.
Why is this so hard to understand?

Arresting illegals is lawful and completely under the control of Federal law.

Oddly enough my point is exactly what the court decided when they said Trump's deployment of NG to states that do not want the NG is unlawful.
The courts are acting as they are supposed to. Checks and balances help prevent one branch from having too much power.

You guys are fully authoritarian. You want the federal government to shove whatever they want down state's throats.
The president makes up a stupid lie. You guys believe it.
And then you send in NG against the city and state's protests.
This is authoritarianism.
You are ripping state's rights away based on the premise of a lie. This helps no one. You are giving far too much power to the federal government
What happens if a Democrat gets into office and decided MAGA rallies are terrorist activities and sends in the NG against the state's repeated declarations that all criminal activity is under control by the local police?
Do you want a future president to have that power? Are you really thinking this through? I don't think you are.

Executive orders are not laws. Federal laws are passed by Congress. State laws are passed by their respective state legislature.
If a president can rule by Executive Order, what is the point of any checks and balances? We are not a monarchy. We do not have kings with absolute power.
You don't want any president to have that power.

I am sure you remember back when Obama was president and refused to limit migrants from crossing into Arizona. The state of AZ said - if the feds are not going to do their jobs as outlined in the constitution, then the state of AZ will do it for them. The Obama admin threw a fit and the courts shut that down quickly because immigration is solely under the control of the Federal government. And Congress long ago passed that power on to the executive branch, so your nonsense about authoritarianism when it comes to enforcing immigration laws in this country is just that, nonsense.

I guess Pritzker wants to emulate George Wallace standing in the schoolhouse door to prevent federal agents from enrolling black students at the U of Alabama.
Interesting comparison!
