Trump's repeated lie is that these cities are out of control.

When the city leadership, their local police, and state governors are repeatedly telling you that they have things under control and DO NOT NEED NATIONAL GUARD, that is it. Leave them alone.

State's rights include calling up the NG. The local people know best whether they need NG or not.

Why is this so hard to understand?

How is it authoritarian to round up illegals and protect those who are rounding them up?

Isn't that the function of federal laws and enforcement?

Interesting- I get the slippery slope- not fighting you but just wondering as I have out loud for over 4 years - just wondering what role the states played with thousands of illegals being pumped into cities? Did the states know? Did Texas know? Is the federal govt allowed to transplant people by the thousands into cities?

Did the states get paid? They must have because illegals were in hotels that rent was paid for. Airlines and airports knew it. Bus lines knew it.

What law is it that allows this kind of human trafficking? Whole lotta crap went on and now people are saying clean it up and that is frowned upon.

I would say shut off the money to these towns and states unless they want it cleaned up and if cleaned up then some funds can flow.

I know I want my town cleaned up. Who is fighting for me?

Arresting illegals is lawful and completely under the control of Federal law.

Your post is complete idiocy filled with strawmen.

Oddly enough my point is exactly what the court decided when they said Trump's deployment of NG to states that do not want the NG is unlawful.

The courts are acting as they are supposed to. Checks and balances help prevent one branch from having too much power.

just create an EO that prohibits illegal immigrants in the same exact zone and have non-ice agents do the arresting

You can't shut off money to states that you disagree with. That's not how this works. Power of the purse belongs to Congress.

Again, another check and balance that for some reason you guys want to destroy.

What happens if a Democrat is in office and decides to cut off Texas funding for whatever reason?

These people broke a federal law so just because it hurts the local people feelings doesn't mean that it can't be cleaned up by the federal government.

And then you send in NG against the city and state's protests.

You are ripping state's rights away based on the premise of a lie. This helps no one. You are giving far too much power to the federal government

What happens if a Democrat gets into office and decided MAGA rallies are terrorist activities and sends in the NG against the state's repeated declarations that all criminal activity is under control by the local police?

Do you want a future president to have that power? Are you really thinking this through? I don't think you are.

Can I run for mayor and ban the IRS from collecting Federal taxes from any citizen in my city? Or ban the FBI from arresting people convicted of Federal crimes?

Im pretty sure a mayor can't issue an EO allowing freedom from Federal law for its citizens. If so, my Libertarian paradise city free from Federal tax law may come true after all.

Executive orders are not laws. Federal laws are passed by Congress. State laws are passed by their respective state legislature.

If a president can rule by Executive Order, what is the point of any checks and balances? We are not a monarchy. We do not have kings with absolute power.

You don't want any president to have that power.

I am sure you remember back when Obama was president and refused to limit migrants from crossing into Arizona. The state of AZ said - if the feds are not going to do their jobs as outlined in the constitution, then the state of AZ will do it for them. The Obama admin threw a fit and the courts shut that down quickly because immigration is solely under the control of the Federal government. And Congress long ago passed that power on to the executive branch, so your nonsense about authoritarianism when it comes to enforcing immigration laws in this country is just that, nonsense.

State's rights? Really?

Are you cool with giving states the right to deport illegal aliens within their state out of the country?

To confiscate the assets of illegal aliens that are within their borders under civil forfeiture laws?

I would be totally cool with giving Illinois the right to enforce federal immigration laws as they see fit as long as Texas gets the same rights.

You can't say that states can't enforce federal laws under federalism, and then say the federal government can't enforce federal laws under federalism with the same mouth.

Or, maybe, Democratic states are the only ones with states rights?

Was this authoritarianism and trampling on State's Rights?

John F. Kennedy (1962):
He federalized the Mississippi National Guard on September 30, 1962, to enforce a court order to admit James Meredith, an African American student, to the University of Mississippi. This action was taken after Mississippi's governor attempted to block Meredith's enrollment, which led to a campus-wide riot.

Lyndon B. Johnson (1965):
Johnson federalized the Alabama National Guard in 1965 to protect civil rights marchers walking from Selma to Montgomery. He did this after Alabama's governor, George Wallace, initially refused to provide protection for the marchers.

You don't want any president to have that power.

An executive order is an order on how to execute laws that are already passed by Congress.

If Congress wants to limit the amount of power the executive branch has, it needs to quit giving away that power by passing laws that explicitly give the executive branch that power.

The real problem here by the Left is that for 3 decades, the federal bureaucracy has been somewhat immune to reforms by incoming presidents. Congress gave power over to a bunch of executive agencies, thinking reform of the agencies would be too difficult.

Now that you have a bully of a president armed with AI technology and weaponized autism (which is way stronger than AI, by the way) that has a lot of Red on the supreme court, the 4th branch of government is getting demolished, and the Dem party is panicking.

This is becoming a Constitutional Crisis quickly.

Pritzker and Johnson should be removed from authority over all Illinois Law Enforcement at this point because this is essentially insurrection and in violation of the both the Supremacy Clause AND of the duty of State/Local police to equally enforce the law.

Illinois law enforcement should collectively IGNORE orders to attempt to remove ICE or Federal Agents AND they should also collectively ensure that Federal officials can do their job.

Add to that, Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard in 1957 to protect nine black students who were enrolling in Little Rock Central High School. Eisenhower also sent in 1000 troops from the 101st Airborne.

We are heading for a nullification crisis similar to 1832 when South Carolina declared Federal tariffs null and void. The crisis re-ignited the debate between states' rights and federal authority. There was compromise and the crisis was averted. 29 years later the War between the States broke out...in South Carolina.

No, the courts are just going against Trump because it's Trump. None of these rules they have made over the last 10 months have made sense. They are literally siding with criminals, violence, and crime.
