In the 90s I vacationed in Chicago. Had a great time. Went to a Cubs and a White Sox game. Did the Miracle Mile and the Navy Pier. Walked through that underground road that years later I recognized in The Dark Knight Returns. When I returned to work and was telling a co-worker who was from Chicago about my experience, I relayed my view from the upper deck of New Comiskey - seeing what looked like something out of a WWII book of bombed-out Berlin on the other side of the El. This gal told me that had I taken a left coming off the El rather than a right, I would not have made it out of that bombed-out area alive. It was the projects.

Chicago is regularly mentioned on the Michael Berry show for its number of gun deaths over any given short time frame, typically a weekend but often just a day. The numbers are always quite high, relatively speaking. No one should have to wonder if they made a wrong turn getting off the El, and then find out with finality that they did make a wrong turn.

Nope, that city is not safe overall. If the city "leadership" is doing such a bang up job (yes, that's an intended pun) then all these murders happening on a daily basis would not be happening.

Just cordon off the no ice zone. Surround it and go house to house until you clean the human debri out and off to their county of origin.

Probably because they know there are plenty of judges who would block it instantly.

I don't know the makeup of the appeals court for Illinois, but if it leans left, then it could get tied up there too and for a good amount of time.

Since Abbott gave Trump permission to use the Texas NG, it removes that particular avenue of lawfare for the governor or mayor to use.
