Why do people keep saying this? The EU is heaving funding and providing weapons for Ukraine.

The U.S. has done the lion's share of the heavy lifting on military aid by far, and the most overall support. And, frankly, is the only country willing to try and help end the war instead of the same cycle we've seen these last few years. Other countries want to give humanitarian aid, but don't really want to do much else about the situation...whether it's a peace deal or further military support.

No, Europe (EU plus individual countries) has given and pledged far more overall support of all types than the US. The US has given more military aid, but Europe is catching up now that the US only sells military materiel for Ukraine and has stopped non-military aid, too.

This hasn't been true for some time. The bulk of lethal aid recently has been provided by Europe. And most of the aid we now supply is purchased for Ukraine by the Euros.

Well, I was personally never on train that all foreign is bad. I've been calling for us to engage with our southern neighbors for years now.

We have a direct strategic interest in the success of our southern neighbors since we are physically connected to them and most of our immigration comes from there. We have no interest in Ukraine other than revenge porn and for cynically using Ukrainians as fodder and buffer for Europe.

Trumps biggest hurdle now is that Ukraine has been able internally develop cheap drones combined with just enough EU support to essentially freeze lines where they are while at the same time continue to destroy Russian oil refining capacity with minimal US assistance. Trump pushed the EU to start helping Ukraine and they did. So much so that the've become mush less dependent on us for aid. If Ukraine can hold lines where they are, and they should be able to goign forward, they have no real impetus to make a bad deal with Russia. Especially when for many/most of them death is a better alternative than existing under Russian rule.

So, the US can walk away then?

Make it so!

Except we won't. Because none of this idiocy is actually about Ukraine and only about whether the US or Russia gets the natural resources they have and which country has influence.

So Trump keeps playing to his fan club with zero intention of pulling out.
