I agree in the main. It's irritating how much it is abused. Overwhelming majority of people tossing that phrase around have no idea what a Nazi is or what they actually stood for. Like you say, it's the dumbed down boogeyman of the 21st century. The fact we have to censure EVERYTHING pertaining to it only makes it 10x worse.

That being said, if the OP image is correct and that is what he has, yeah. That's a legit **** up and worthy of calling out. Second only really to an actual swastika. Matched by maybe only SS runic bolts.

I looked quick, it was black the Nazi one is usually white, it looked off at first glance and that is why I missed it at first.

Perhaps some posters here give too much knowledge credit to a stupid drink 19 year old. Remember when one of the royal princes dressed up like a Nazi for Halloween?

Per McDonald, his own (former) campaign director, he is a military history enthusiast and knows exactly what the symbol represents.

A stupid tattoo can be fixed, especially at the direction of an individual with political ambitions and a knowledge of the death's head and its role in the SS.

The fact Platner failed to do so speaks volumes, apparently rendering him worthy of higher office in the opinion of Democrat Party Senators.

He's a perfect dem candidate then.

He has had PLENTY of time to get it fixed. He is a military history enthusiast. So am I. So we both know that symbol was largely reserved for SS Death Head's Units. Literally the guys tasked with guarding and running the concentration camps. I doubt he was honoring Goring's personal Panzer Division which also used it to some extent (Fun fact! The Luftwaffe had PANZER DIVISIONS! Just learned that a few months ago myself.)

Dumb drunk 19 year old excuse ran out of play loooooong ago.

As I mentioned above, the Nazi card gets extremely overplayed. But it is deserved here. No question. No, this dude is not a Nazi, but he is honoring one of the absolute worst parts of their ideology. Seems like an odd hill to die on.

He got it in Croatia. In World War II the Croatians set up a Nazi puppet state that set up their own concentration camps but instead of killing Jews they were used to kill Orthodox Christian Serbs. An estimated 350,000 Serbs were murdered in the camps. Even today their is a portion of Croatian society that revers that time period.
