President Trump says he'd be allowed to serve a 3RD TERM in 2028 via running for vice president, then the president stepping down

Technically, he cannot under the 12th Amendment.

"But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

And yes, is this just Trump being Trump because he knows the left will lose their minds over it for the next 3 days.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Plus the 22nd, obviously.

All this 3rd term **** needs to stop.

Is it useful other than that? No.

Disagree. If it chews up liberal bandwidth and makes Democrats fret and worry, distracting them from their continued efforts to ruin this country, it is a very good thing indeed.

Don't even need the first part.

I am not sure there is anything further than that. However, no one who gains the presidency is just going to give up the power.

But it would still be fun to have Trump as SOTH for a variety of good trolling reasons including having this scenario in play.

He can't and he needs to stop with this garbage.

His comments about Canada are why a conservative PM wasn't elected.
Him acting like this is why we were stuck with Biden for four years.

The POTUS shouldn't be trolling anyone. He should be acting like a leader.

I voted for him all three times and that is getting very old.

I think that the argument is that he's not ineligible to serve, just to run. From an originalist perspective, when the 12th amendment was passed you only had to meet citizenship and age requirements. It's a stretch but has never been tested in court.

Clearly Trump thought the recent No Kings protest was a dismal disappointment. This is just his way of saying "do better". It's inspirational really.

I think this whole hypothesis stems from the fact that the Constitution makes a point (in several places) to differentiate between being "elected" to the office of President and "holding" the office of President. Even after serving two terms, Trump meets the eligibility requirements for "holding" the office of President. Per the Constitution he cannot be "elected" to the office of President again, but is not explicitly prohibited from "holding" the office of President again via means other than being elected President.

The Constitution outlines multiple ways a person can "hold" the office of President (one of which is being elected to the office). The 22nd Amendment prohibits one of those ways (i.e. being elected to office of President again) but does not prohibit the other ways.

Anyway, I don't think we will see Trump 3.0. But, the scenario is not as cut/dry as many would believe.

You're wrong and emotional. Didn't matter if it was a conservative or a liberal leading Canada. They are still a vassal state that can't survive without our subsides (lots of countries are). Their "conservatives" still wanted to lap up all the free money from us and it needed to stop. America first. Period. Sorry neighbors. Trump "acting like this", whatever that means, in no way held any bearing on his stolen election. He had almost the whole of the intelligence community and mainstream media lying about him for years and using every dirty trick in the book to keep him out of the oval. Don't let the MSM trick you again, into making this a bigger deal than it is.

If Trump could do it, so could Obama.

And the way Trump is going, I think that Obama would likely win in a landslide.

So if you want a third term for Obama, keep going.
