Very bad look for Hilton. I'm sure the will try to backtrack this somehow and come out with an 'All Are Welcome' type message.

There's some very pissed off people at Hilton corporate today that now get to deal with the **** storm of some virtue signaling hotel manager.

Probably. But I bet at least half are giving high 5s thinking this is some sorta win. You know, just like Budlight

Likely an independent owner / operator that operates under the Hilton flag. Doubtful that Hilton corporate made that decision.

Operator needs to loose license then and statement by Hilton

According to this: How Does Hilton Franchising Work? Franchisesbiz.com

Hilton is 99% franchised. Likely a Fruity Tim disciple throwing a hissy.

Regardless, actions have consequences.

Side note... Hilton has gone way downhill the last few years anyways. I stayed at a property in San Diego and they wanted to charge me for early check in with my room already good to go. The same thing happened in New Orleans. Their right to do so but not the service level I expected after staying at Hilton for years.

I'm referring to knowing your average customer across the brand at all levels.
Who is your customer when they AREN'T on the company travel card or reserving at the negotiated govt rate?

Yeah, why can't they say, "we are investigating and if we confirm that the franchisee arbitrarily cancelled DHS reservations, they will soon be called a former Hilton franchisee."

Of course, to be fair, this could have been done by some part-time lunatic that works for that location on the weekends.

GSA can add Hilton to the Blacklist and pull the federal government contracts, problem solved.

This is a great reminder that leftists are toxic in any role.

Hilton has no play here that doesn't piss off a significant portion of the population and result in bottom line damage.

Could be as small as one random 24yo "ally" unwisely given system permissions who thought they'd "be part of the resistance" and now the entire chain gets to deal with financial blow-back.

The email snips reference a "proper" cancellation email and the ability to "house" there. That ain't Larry Johnson or Sanjay Patel starting shlt. My guess is Nigel Williamshire won't be the manager long.

Regardless the Hilton name is on the building. When choosing where to stay I never consider the operator, I see the corporate sign. I'm retired so I only travel for pleasure and have control over where I stay. Even if this was just one operator I'll be choosing hotel options other than Hilton.

Is it Hilton, or do they have properties that are franchised that are coordinating locally?

If this is the case, Hilton Corp needs to step in an begin the smackdown. If not (or if the do nothing in the former), they should expect a YUGE backlash.

it's a franchisee with a Hilton email address

and guess who runs that franchise?

at least six of 8 executives are Indians/Pakistanis.

This is a woke franchisee about to get their ass handed to them by Hilton. You immediately piss off 50% of the customer base and then what do you do if Trump admin says no Fed agency can book a room at a Hilton Hotel worldwide?

This is what's baffling about these corporations picking sides politically. I haven't bought a single thing Nike branded since they cancelled the Betsy Ross sneakers in support of Kaepernick. I never drank Bud Light but we certainly go to Target for less than we used to as well. 20 years ago I had a Men's Health subscription for a couple of years. I emailed them with frustration when they ran a cover praising Obama for winning in 2008. All I really said is I was disappointed they decided to choose sides politically and that I just wanted them to be apolitical. They actually emailed back telling me they were proud to side with the new president and weren't worried about subscriptions to which I replied that's, cool. You can cancel mine. I've gotten a couple of contacts along the way asking me to resubscribe but I just ignore them.

Memo to the corporate board room. You can only lose. Just stay out of it.

It'll be worse than that. Business travelers are a huge portion of their clientele and they're far more than 50/50 conservative. This is gonna leave a mark unless they step up quickly and in it on the franchisee then publicly terminate that franchise.

I think this is the most likely scenario. I don't see the actual owners/GMs wanting to torpedo their business/career over the political issue du jour like a Gen Z would.

I'm perfectly fine with the franchisee paying a hefty price for their decisions here.

These fine gentlemen decided to play politics at work. Absolutely their decision and I respect that.
