I wish he hadn't fed that script steroids. And for what? Damage control for his administration in the foreseeable future?

I've been jousting with libs on social media, my acquaintances on facebook, and in personal conversation. The answer with them on any given issue is how bad Trump is....followed by epstein folowed by January 6. Sure, i never really get anywhere with those folks but there are a lot of conservatives who speak up, we make our points, and we mutually support each other.

I dont think some of you appreciate just how damaging that truly was yesterday. Here it doesn't matter. Post something that shows your commitment and get a bunch of stars. Just like the libs turning to bash Trump on any policy discussion some of you will ask if the next wackadoodle the dems will put up is any better. Not to me..not to damn near anyone on this forum. But enough to hurt the cause? Hell yes.

Thank you for the sanity post. Everyone and every race is racist at some points in their lives. Its a given. When in political office especially these days keep it in your mind. This has damaged the future especially at midterms. Doesn't matter the good Trump has done for foreign policy or the stock market. Yall can argue all you want here but not seeing it and pissing off your own base won't help.

just like the kill Tony joke on Puerto Rico was going to cost Trump the election.

This cannot help. Do you think it helps?

I just wish he would have the discipline to eliminate these self inflicted cuts. I dont know about you but when I listen to a Rubio or a Vance I know that they're not going to......well, do this. It's just not that hard to understand.

If many among us would have voiced some type of objection with this mickey mouse crap in the past rather than excusing it we'd be much better off. To do so does not mean you go left.

Typical. You guys need to get a new playbook. You all have made that false accusation so many times that it's become practically meaningless. Democrats always love to accuse others of doing what they've been doing in spades. Most of the biggest racists in this country have (D) by their name.

I think it helps Trump. Those crying about it seem to be the ones that cannot seem to accept Trump is their POTUS.

Trump has even spoken with Tim Scott and there are no issues once Tim understood what happened.

Why can't libs be more like Tim Scott (he's black btw)?

Can one be outraged at both examples, while noting that there is a meaningful difference between what some random guest posted from the White House grounds and what gets posted from an official account of the President? Both are objectionable, but there are degrees of difference involved.

I don't know if Trump is a racist or not, but there's evidence from before he even entered politics, like his characterization of the Central Park Five, that at least make it understandable why some might have that opinion of him.

What was racist regarding Trump and the Central Park 5 or is that what Reddit told you to refer to.

Even if you want to hold Trump responsible for raising the rhetoric in that case, it was hardly indicative of his views on race.

So because he took out full page ads demanding accountability for the brutal rape of a woman, and basing comments on the confessions of the alleged perps (later recanted) who them were not cleared later with DNA and who some involved think the five were still associated with the rape that was committed by a brown person…

Trump is racist. Exactly what about that was based on race? Is you concept that only white people can be accused of crimes? Accusing blacks is inherently (or systemically) racist?

Me thinks you have poor or no knowledge of the CP5. Just parroting misinfo.

The point is that Trump being labeled a racist is not a product of his political affiliation. The CP5 case is just one example of Trump being accused of racism before entering politics. While that was all going down, black pastors accused him of stirring up racial tensions. Before that he was sued by the federal government for discriminating against black tenants. Then there's the whole birther thing. Point being it's false to claim that the only reason some consider him a racist is due to his political party affiliation.

One need not agree he is a racist to admit that it is understandable why some might have that opinion of him based purely on actions occurring before he entered the political arena.

The discrimination case was settled with no admission of wrongdoing doing. And technically that would reflect on Fred Trump not Donald.

You cannot admit that the CP5 stuff was not racist. How was it racist?

How was the birthed thing racist? He wasn't questioning whether the dude was black or not, just where he was born. Do you have evidence showing Trump did this on racial bias?

You have a false narrative you have been tricked into believing. But it's absent of facts. Just spinnuendo.

Well now I know we aren't dealing in reality.

You are either intentionally obtuse or just too stubborn to admit the truth. He screen recorded a video and it included a few seconds of a video that auto played after the one he posted.

If you work hard enough to be offended you can always succeed.

You mean the 2 seconds of the next auto-played video that he probably didn't even know was there at the end of the 62 second video he (or more likely his staffer) posted? Is that seriously what gets the whole internet to freak out? People are using a screen shot from that 2 seconds at the end of a completely different video acting like he posted a racist meme?

This is all crazy to me. People outraged over this when there is so much more actually happening in this world to be mad about. We have a large percentage of people in our own country that are ok with killing babies in the womb, having no borders, and making everyone live in their perverted idea of some kind of communist utopia. Yet, people choose to get upset over this. And they twist and lie to try and make it a thing. And even some people on the right fall for it. Clown world.

Fair points, and I would add that the rise of social media has amplified those sorts of accusations.

Again, I don't claim he is racist, but I can see why some have that opinion, in the same way I can see why someone's grandpa might be labeled a racist for saying some bigoted stuff, even though grandpa might, on an individual level, treat everyone fairly and respectfully. Grandpa may be a bigot but that doesn't make him a racist.

On one hand, you're right, this seems a pointless exercise and waste of time when we have several very real, very complicated issues to get worked out. Our debt is out of control, we have farmed out critical industries and supply chains to nations who are not our friends in order to profit a select few (while being distracted by cheap and poor quality goods). The average American doesn't have adequate savings for their retirements, the cost of necessities continues to eat away at our ability to save, and Social Security is in real jeopardy as it is about to get hit with a significant increase in retirees. Our healthcare system is overpriced, overburdened, and increasingly out of reach for the average American who is one healthcare emergency away from bankruptcy. On top of all this we have an ineffective legislature, who seems more concerned with political theatrics than serving their constituencies, and our civil rights appear to be under assault at every turn, with large mega-corporations aiding in this process.

We have real problems, requiring real solutions, so getting bent out of shape over a stupid video seems insane.

On the other hand, what you appear to be discounting is the fact that, for good or ill, Americans have certain expectations of whoever occupies the office of the Presidency. Our President represents us, and assuming the office generates a certain responsibility attached to the role he plays while occupying that office, thus the People are allowed to expect him to comport himself in a way that does not diminish the office he occupies. We want the individual who sits behind the Resolute Desk to be a sort of moral exemplar, or at the very least do his best to pretend his character is above reproach. Thus, when a President flagrantly does something that calls into question his character, and as a consequence weakens the illusion that he will live up to the moral demands of his office, it generates offense, and sometimes outrage. It leads to questions of whether or not the guy is looking out for all Americans, as demanded by the office he occupies, or failing to live up to the moral demands of the job.
