Hell no. If they want their freedom, they're going to have to go get it. We don't need to put weapons and explosives in the field that may end up pointed at US troops.

Should start with sinking that retired tanker they seem to plan to use as additional storage.

Or take it and the tugs use it as a mine clearer.

If it is full of oil, seize it, hold onto it, and then return it to the good citizens of Iran as a gift once the regime has been destroyed.

The IRGC wants US to tone down OUR threats, do they? As you wish. No more threats, so let's proceed to the FO phase with actions instead of words.

They would just sink one of ours stuck over there if we did.

If Iran had the ability to do such a thing they would have done so.

I like the phased or stepped approach. We could even publicly announce a schedule so that civilians can not be present. Make a list of ports and other critical infrastructure to Irans economy and start with the one of lowest significance. Then, every other day, bomb the hell out of the next target. We keep doing this until they agree to our terms, or there is nothing left fighting for in their country.

This entire deal is a real conundrum for Iran. It's a culture that lives and dies by saving face but they are having to negotiate with a guy who posts everything online that enters his mind. There is zero chance for Iran to save face here. Two diametrically opposed parties with no room for compromise.

I see no path for a deal here.

Wait so a fighter bomber that was in our inventory in the 1970's breeched our defenses and dropped bombs on US troops and facilities??? We were we counting on the Kuwaitis to have AD in that area? WTF.

Sal has a good breakdown of the military blockade up (youtube video). TLDW, though Iranian tankers are filling at Kharg, ultimately they are then herded back to Iranian waters after, and can't go unload elsewhere (9 now). The dead tanker being filled is just for (desperation) storage.

Fire at RAF Fairford no damage to US planes here is what is housed there:
Quote:

RAF Fairford is one of two bases in Europe capable of hosting all three of America's long-range bombers the B-1 Lancer, the B-2 Spirit and the B52 Stratofortress.
Built in 1944 for British and American troop carriers and gliders during the D-Day invasion, it has long been a trusted location for US forces.
It was used in the aerial bombardment of Libya in 1986, acting as a staging post for air-to-air refuelling tankers. Its 3,000m-long runway was designated as the UK's only emergency landing location for Nasa's Space Shuttle programme.

About the fire:
Quote:

A fire has broken out at an air base currently used by the US air force in the war against Iran.
Several crews were deployed to the incident at RAF Fairford in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Footage taken overnight appears to show smoke billowing from what is claimed to be the base's commissary, a shop that provides food and equipment.
Other pictures from the scene show that the building's roof collapsed as firefighters brought the blaze under control.
No one was injured and no RAF aircraft was damaged.

So when is the deadline? And what is y'all's opinion to what will happen once it's hit?

Really think we're in need another 2 week bombing campaign or more. Trump said there is about 25% more military targets. Hit them, hit a little bit of infrastructure but not a lot, just the most critical to their military. Let Israel loose on killing their leaders. Also release Israel on Hezbollah

Do that while keeping the blockage and mine sweeping

I shopped in that commissary stationed there in 1963-1964. In 64 we closed the base then. Probably not a big loss.

Think like an Iranian leader : A phased announced approach will give the IRGC time to empty the children's and women's maternity hospitals and move them all to these critical infrastructures

The massive attacks the UAE suffered led the country to seek assistance from allies.
  • Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the Israel Defense Forces to send an Iron Dome battery with interceptors and several dozen IDF operators after a call with the Emirati president Mohammed bin Zayed, Israeli officials said.
  • That was the first time Israel had sent an Iron Dome battery to another country, and the UAE was the first country outside of the U.S. and Israel in which the system was used, a senior Israeli official said.
  • The system intercepted dozens of Iranian missiles, a second Israeli official said.
