This is unacceptable, IMO. RFK made a small fortune suing this company for causing cancer and now he's saying, "but we need it." F that.

RFK ran on stopping Roundup. RFK just endorsed increasing Roundup.

We have a big network here: Maybe someone got sick or personally knows someone who got sick from Roundup weed killer. No bot stories, just regular 10 finger and toes, former students from Texas A&M with a story.

Roundup does not cause cancer.

It is absolutely necessary to US Agriculture.

I don't really give a crap what RFK "ran on"

The lawsuits against Monsanto are not scientifically based

I can respond with a list of farmers, aerial applicators, farm hands, etc, etc, who never got sick from it.

Amen, and it's good to hear that coming from an American Farmer.

There is absolutely nothing unsafe with glyphosate used as recommended. It's complete liberal hippie granola dumbassery to think otherwise.

The ignorance of the general public in matters of agriculture is mind boggling.

Yep. Y'all go ahead and do away with all those ag chemicals that sound so scary when paid internet influencers with no scientific background trash them on the internet.

Then enjoy your $30 loaf of bread and your $75 cheeseburger.

What the EO actually said was, if we are using a crapton of it, we should make it at home and not rely on imports from China.

I am guessing Canyon has used a lot of Roundup in his lifetime.

I own part of a farm. We (I do not physically work there) spray a couple thousand acres per year with it. Everyone is still alive.

The White House told RFK to shut his pie hole about Roundup and get in line.

And that's what RFK has done. He's gotten in line.

Good.

I got a call from a lawyer after my mother passed saying her death (from cancer) was probably caused by roundup and was worth money.

Just that call makes me think the whole thing was a scam. It sucks to lose someone to cancer (**** cancer), but my mother wasn't a farmer. She did use roundup around the house and we used it on other property. She never owned anything to apply it that was larger than a 1 gallon pump sprayer, and I don't think she actually applied it out of anything bigger than a regular spray bottle. I suspect the racket now is to find cases that can't be disproven and convincing the family that roundup caused it or that it's worth some money to believe that.

What I've read before is that he surfactant ingredient in Roundup is more acutely toxic than glyphosate itself and the combination of the two is even more toxic. Maybe that's a myth and I've been duped. Still never gonna use it around my house. BTW, I'm no hippie, far from it.

I did get a chuckle out of this in the story:

Quote:

If Secretary Kennedy remains at HHS after this, it will be impossible to argue that his past warnings about glyphosate were anything more than campaign rhetoric designed to win trust and votes."

It's as if people in maha believed THEIR guy would be no different than every other person who gets into office or a position like Kennedy's.

For those dead set on insisting Glyphosate is safe, you may want to rethink your position. The article establishing it's safety was recently retracted.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0273230099913715?via%3Dihub

Bad move by RFK. Assuming he's trying not to make waves amongst farmers.

American agriculture depends on Roundup. The poster above was absolutely correct about $30 bread without it.

Anyone have any good data on glyphosate causing cancer?

Because, that is the relevant information.

I don't know why anyone would take a political action group, a trial attorney or a politician's word for it one way or the other.

yawn*. I can find dozens refuting that. Glyphosate may well be the most studied herbicide of all time, and any negatives have been shown sketchy, at best, and litigation generated.

And the spray she used was likely 1% glyphosphate, I routinely used 38%, mixed and sprayed to a lesser dilution

Glyphosate is completely harmless for the average homeowner and consumer.

The only people that have been potentially affected by glyphosate are those that have mishandled it. They are either manufacturers or agricultural producers that do not follow the label instructions regarding PPE and quantity/concentration guidelines. In other words, people that have been exposed over long periods of time to high concentration without correct equipment.

Glyphosate breaks down pretty rapidly in soil when exposed to sunlight; there's essentially none left by the time crops are harvested.

Glyphosate is essentially a miracle chemical end absolutely necessary to American agriculture.

Now that we know a very large percentage of "scientists" are all-in on whatever makes them the most money, how are we supposed to trust ANY science?

The whole thing is a racket similar to asbestos, etc. The greedy personal-injury lawyers are a huge reason everything costs so damn much in this country.

I've always found that people who are paranoid about herbicide have almost no experience, self-education, or formal-education with respect to Agriculture...

When used according to the Label (which is the law) Herbicides are a vital tool that improve yield, prevent the spread of pests/pathogens, and subsequently help keep our food supply secure.
