Trust me, native Floridians are sick of the Yankee invasion and would love for them to all go back as well.

That ship sailed a long time ago. "God's waiting room" is completely overrun with them.

Thus the reason I feel no pity for them when misery befalls them. I'd like to say the only good leftist is a dead leftist, but since those still seem to be able to vote, there's just no good leftists.

Ah She did not say pretty please....

If Hochul will pledge to pay double the NY taxes she owes then that would certainly convince a lot of people. Why should rich people fund her social programs, if she personally will not do it?

NY has double the budget of Florida with fewer people and it isn't remotely run as well. At some point people need to figure out that money is not the problem. The real issue here is that without those taxpayers it threatens Democrat grift.

Sadly, I'm going to have to interject to say that Florida bureaucracies aren't well run. Maybe compared to other states, it's "better," but we still have more than our fair share of wasted time and money.

All bureaucracies are inherently inefficient. Florida does about as well as any US state though, especially when you look at things like disaster response and education rankings. If you are talking about having a line at the DMV or something I'm sure that sucks but places like California and NY have insane taxation and debt and their infrastructure is falling apart and the services are terrible.

That was wild to listen to.

When people were geographically locked in and had to stay in New York, we could bend them over.

But... Covid (hyped up to defeat Trump) led to WFH which unlocked possibilities and thus, all those economic inmates were effectively released from the tax prison of New York.

Now... poor us, we want those high wage earners back because who else is going to fund our Democrat Party voters who are on the take from government programs.

This is exactly California too.

I can't believe she said it out loud.

That is an unbelievable level of tin-foil arrogance if I've ever seen it. Telling high net worth people that they have a duty to fund generous social programs in NY, and that other New Yorkers should recruit former New Yorkers to move back to NY and pay those stupidly high taxes.

Incredulous!

With leadership like her and Mamdani, NY is in for very rough times ahead. The obvious play is to reduce spending to align with your tax revenue, but they refuse to acknowledge that. Instead, it's "raise taxes... the wealthy aren't paying their fair share! Move back to NY and pay what you owe to society!"

Lol... good luck with that.

Governor Hochal seems to be an ignorant minion, but in on the graft. Mamdani I believe is more evil and knows what he is doing, forcing conservatives, middle class and wealthy out while trying to bring as many Islamic terrorist as possible. His end game is much more convoluted and evil.

They'd do it in a heartbeat. A leftist will put a bullet in your head as soon as look at you. Their actions are justified in their minds by their altruism.

Both Hillary Clinton, President Obama and a previous head of the DNC were acolytes of Saul Alinsky.

Jesus: I want you to care for the poor by giving of your own time, effort and resources!

Liberal: Ok….but what if instead of doing that, I demanded that the local Romans confiscate the resources of the workers and redistribute a small amount of it to the poor? Wouldn't that be equally good?

Jesus:

Jesus: Ok I'm going to start over, let me know where I lost you…

There is probably a maxim in there. More govt isn't the answer. Just looking for the least bad is still settling. All govt needs to be reduced dramatically.

Generous Social Programs. Give me a break. It is government grift.

High net people should.donate to charities they believe in and research.

The government should provide roads and security and things that are impossible for you to do at an individual level.

But charity should be at a personal and local level

NYC has a larger budget than the entire state of Florida

Stuff like this is a major vulnerability for Democrats. There are a lot of liberals that really don't care about paying absurd amounts of taxes because they feel like there is some nobility in it. The problem is that when they see lower tax states with far better services and all the emphasis is on more taxes and not improving the services. Slowly a few of these folks are waking up (Elon was one but there are many others).

Listening to that, Stewart seems to think the disconnect is in showing the value of government services and getting rid of the waste. But at the taxation rates they're proposing, there's no way for high-payers to see that much return. And any way to give them any kind of special treatment for paying that amount of taxes is just going to infuriate the people who voted for those high taxes.

Dear Kathy Hochul,

Thanks to some kind and benevolent conservatives, I was able to learn what a computer is and type this out to you. I had to resist the urge to stop at a liquor store while sitting and learning, but I made it.

Anyway, back in 2022, you made comments where you urged conservatives to leave New York and go to Florida. We did. We took our money with us as well, because that's how those things work. Now you want us back? Nah…

See, you're in the "FO" stage of "FAFO." It's pretty glorious to behold. Good luck with all your social justice programs without the capital to fund them.

Don't blame me, I voted for Lee Zeldin.

No hugs. Too busy exploring this thing called "grok." Computers are awesome. Can someone get me a cup of Ripple?

Can't imagine how much it must suck to be conservative and live in one of these horrendous leftist states. NY, MN, OR, WA, CA, MA, etc. Some people can't move, leave their jobs or family and have to stay where they are and endure the madness.

I'm sure it's valid. Bureaucracy sucks because by design it doesn't have a profit incentive and the types of people it attracts tend to be focused on job security and entitlements over risk and customer service. It's not set up to operate like a business. Florida just manages it better than most but it still is inherently flawed.

Yankees come down to Florida to visit.
Damn Yankees move down to Florida and stay.

My daughter moved to Florida from Texas a little over a year ago and works in retail while waiting for her fianc to graduate. She just told me a couple days ago that she can't wait to move back to Texas. When asked what was so bad about Florida compared to Texas, she said definitively it was the people. More specifically, snowbirds from liberal New England states. Working in retail, she deals with a lot of these types and said they are obnoxious, entitled, and rude.

No real point to this anecdote, but I'm glad that Texas' snowbirds are mostly from the Midwest which isn't nearly as bad IMO than New England.

As a Texan who moved ti Sarasota 5 years ago, I can def vouch for that. I meet ao many nice, wndearing people from Florida. Then I meet New Yorkers, Nee Jersey-ans(?) , Rhode Islanders etc. and they are ridiculous in a bad way. Nobody likes them.

Anecdote- I was in Publix (grocery store) a while back and overheard two old guys from the Northeast lamenting that no one from Florida/ the South honks their car horns enough. I stopped to listen and the ending was 'I don't give a S*** about these people. I honk as loud and long as I feel like'

I loathe them
