What an idiot. You treat them like your own personal piggy bank and they said enough. Have some introspection and figure out the actual problem is a socialist policies.

That is an unbelievable level of tin-foil arrogance if I've ever seen it. Telling high net worth people that they have a duty to fund generous social programs in NY, and that other New Yorkers should recruit former New Yorkers to move back to NY and pay those stupidly high taxes.

Incredulous!

With leadership like her and Mamdani, NY is in for very rough times ahead. The obvious play is to reduce spending to align with your tax revenue, but they refuse to acknowledge that. Instead, it's "raise taxes... the wealthy aren't paying their fair share! Move back to NY and pay what you owe to society!"

Lol... good luck with that.

That's some good political word salad.

Part 1: individuals come back to NY and bring your friends and contribute tax dollars to fund our lucrative social programs.

Part 2: we need to realize we are competing with states like Texas and need to be smart about the programs we offer so we can keep the tax rate down.

NY has double the budget of Florida with fewer people and it isn't remotely run as well. At some point people need to figure out that money is not the problem. The real issue here is that without those taxpayers it threatens Democrat grift.

The answer to her problem was just right there in front of her but she can't seem to find it.

so she has run into the East German conundrum...if we don't trap people here, they will leave. Noticed how she talked about basically captive workforces because obviously no one could leave NY and do the same jobs.
But in typical Marxist/Communist style will they ever promote freedom? No. They will double down on trying to trap people in NY and keep tightening the screws.

She should go to the prison and ask Nico Maduro how it all worked out for he and Hugo Chavez. ...did the rich people come back or bring their money back? Did their social programs ever get funded?

but if you do that, your benevolent and merciful government won't be able to solve everyone else's problems and create a utopia with the warmth of collectivism!! now, do you see how evil it is for people who worked really hard and earned or produced things to not want government to keep raising and extracting more of "their fair share"?

She flat out said it. We had them captive when they couldn't do remote work. Sob, sob. Now that they have the freedom to move with relative ease, we can't force them to pay our confiscatory taxes to fund our socialist utopia.

I wonder why your tax base has been eroded? Has nothing to do with your terrible leadership and continuously rising taxes, right?

Unbeliever how so many people in positions of power cannot see that it's not the fault of everyone else, it's your fault what is happening.

No, they know exactly what they are doing. This is getting out in front of the coming storm damage and laying the blame at those evil rich people rather than the continuously failed policies of socialism.

I listened to the whole clip, and I believe her statement was in response to questions about why NY shouldn't raise taxes FURTHER on the rich, probably with regard to whether she supports what Mamdami is trying to do. So, while that was a world salad almost worthy of Kamala Harris, I think she was struggling to explain why soaking the rich won't work anymore (at least not at the state and local level).

NY, CA, WA are all trying to excessively tax the rich.

Rich people aren't exactly stupid and they will live where the conditions are met so they can continue their lifestyle.

As someone above nailed it: states compete with each other for resources and population. One of the biggest blindspots dem leaders have is they believe there is no condition for which people would ever leave. And when they do they cant comprehend why their policies have failed.

Im sure other states (IL?) Are looking to jack taxes up.

And I think the federal progressives will try to push through a wealth tax for all.

Stuff like this is a major vulnerability for Democrats. There are a lot of liberals that really don't care about paying absurd amounts of taxes because they feel like there is some nobility in it. The problem is that when they see lower tax states with far better services and all the emphasis is on more taxes and not improving the services. Slowly a few of these folks are waking up (Elon was one but there are many others).

It's called theft. They're stealing in the name of socialism and giving to people who have no right to Americans' money. And of course all the politicians' many laundering and corruption. People are sick and tired of it.

This moron says "dashboards work" on showing what taxpayer money they've spent it on but the dashboard shows nothing about results. Hey, look at our dashboard showing we've spent $5 billion on homelessness but nothing about the result, which is homelessness continues to increase so where is that money actually go?

I think that Cali was openly discussing trying to Tax People for 9-10 years after they have left the state. They also periodically talk about taxing people in other states if they work for companies with a presence in Cali.

Dems/Libs absolutely believe that they are entitled to what other people earn.
