I'll bet anyone any amount he won't win.

But his fan club will still argue that's he's different and genuine. It's exactly what I expect from someone who puts politics over faith, but he markets himself as the opposite. And some genuinely believe him.

They aren't the Dem base though. The Dem base wanted someone like Crockett that's going to attack at every turn. This guy may grab a few "guilt" votes from the suburbs but I don't think he motivates the base.oh no said:Gigem314 said:
This guy is just flat out awkward, which isn't going motivate the Dem base
I don't know. Did you see the "remember the name" thread started by one of our resident leftists on here? All of the leftists on this site were posting with giddiness and excitement on that thread. They are really happy to have a "man of the cloth" with a D by their name because they know how easily fooled people are when they hear what they want to hear. They don't care if he's an evil false prophet freak. They're excited and motivated because he can trick people.
Talarico makes Ted Cruz look like Billy Graham. Heck, he makes Trump look like Billy Graham…and Trump is one of the last people in the Republican Party I would get theological advice from.jwhaby said:

Good point. I do think his theology is very shallow. He was milking it to use the "Christian nationalism" boogeyman though.Ellis Wyatt said:Gigem314 said:
He's an opportunist. He knows full well what the guy meant, but saw it as a chance to turn himself into a victim and make a political statement ("Muh Christian Nationalism!").
I agree he is an opportunist. I don't think he knew what the guy meant.
Kind of like the "fake German" on Inglorious Basterds," I believe Talarico does not know or understand Christ, and he does not realize that real recognizes fake.

I used to know a Duke (pretty sure it was Duke) divinity student who became a UMC pastor. His theology didn't resemble Jesus at all. I'm guessing he's a Talarico fan. They're way more into politics than into God. It's sad. And by sad, I mean woe be unto them.
lol….you really believe that? SMHJAW3336 said:

Satan twists God's word all the time. Just read Genesis through Revelation.
Talarico is doing the same.
Therefore, Talarico is demonic.
Regardless of your view on politics, Christians should have crystal clear discernment on this.

He's not genuine. He's a product. He's as phony as the rest of them.
I left the UMC about 20 years ago. When I told one of my longtime friends who I deeply respect, his response was: "You didn't leave. You graduated."ts5641 said:Ellis Wyatt said:

The UMC is just a tweak away from being every bit as bad as talarico's church.
The problem is the Dem platform and policy positions. The candidates are odd, but they're still tasked with uphill battle of pushing fringe positions that would only be electable deep blue states like California.Jinx said:
The dems wanted us to want Crockett. We said no, give us someone who might actually have a snowflake's chance in hell (hehe).
The reality is, it won't matter anyway. I've been around long enough to not get my hopes up. Crockett would have been a dead in the water candidate, so we went with the guy who is the not quite entirely dead in the water candidate.
