I used to know a Duke (pretty sure it was Duke) divinity student who became a UMC pastor. His theology didn't resemble Jesus at all. I'm guessing he's a Talarico fan. They're way more into politics than into God. It's sad. And by sad, I mean woe be unto them.

Did he hyphenate his last name, and use his wife's name before the hyphen?

Because I know a guy from Duke Divinity who took his wife's name, and put his wife's name before the hyphen.

I guess he wanted to make absolutely crystal clear who wore the pants in the family.

Funny. That's quite similar to how we feel about Christians. By all means, do your thing. Happy for you. Leave us be.

Interesting take.

Can Christians (and their judge-y attitude) be their own worst enemy sometimes? Absolutely. That's not a part of the faith, but it's a part of being human...and because of that, believers will fail. I agree with you that it's not good, and turns people away before they even understand the true message, based on a false impression.

On the other hand, you have the liberals who want to force their religion onto everyone else, and cancel your life if you don't bend the knee.

Me judging you is rude. But it doesn't harm you, other than maybe annoyance or hurt feelings.

On the other hand...men in women's bathrooms, DEI, open borders, trans athletes, horrible fiscal polices, forced vaccinations, etc...those all directly affect people in a very real and harmful way.

Neither is good, but there are definitely degrees to the comparisons.

Talarico is doing America and Texas and huge favor. Rhetoric like this is/will drive people to Christian Nationalism in droves. Christian Nationalism was openly celebrated in this country for the majority of it's existence. They want to demonize it because they fear it.

I don't think so, but honestly I quit paying attention to him.

Can we possibly make this the primary motto of the federal government? Maybe shrink the federal government by about 90% so that they quit messing with us?

Because that would be awesome.

YES.

Even if our favorite DADDY is the President. Make the government so small that he has basically 0 power over the people!

Judging is biblical, how can you identify sin and missing the mark if you don't judge behavior? You literally have to observe and judge things, including yourself

Judging others is not biblical.

That's not to mean we're not to use discernment, and determine what is right and what is sin...and flee sin.

But there are dozens of verses that instruct us not to judge others. Matthew 7:1 is the simplest example. Scripture tells us there is only one judge for people, and it's not us.

Looks like this thread needs to head to a different board, but I would suggest a full reading of the Bible to get a balanced perspective on judging vs picking a couple of verses aimed at judgy people who were being instructed about their own sin. To say God followers don't have a role to be judges in this fallen world is in my reading inaccurate. Salt and light

We are permitted to judge people. Certainly not their salvation.

Matthew 7 does not prohibit all types of judgement. We are to use careful discernment in judgment. Censorious, hypocritical, self righteous or other kinds of unfairly judgements are prohibited but in order to fulfill the commands that follow it is necessary to to discern dogs from swine (v6) from one's own brethren.

Most of it undoubtably coming from New York, California, and Illinois. Same for when Robert Francis O'Dork was running.

Beto and Allred are grifters who do what the dnc tells them to do and are looking to get rich from being elected. Typical, which makes them predictable.

Talarico is preaching a false gospel on purpose. This is much more dangerous because there is no limit to the evil he is capable of if he gets any power.

They will do what the DNC always does. Fully go in on a beta male Texan, who will then get tons of funding into the state to turn Texas "purple", then a GOP candidate will debate said beta in the fall, make that beta look like he actually is instead of who they want him to be, then lose.

Winner. We most certainly can judge the actions of evil people and avoid them.
