That said, this will be handled and the student likely expelled as soon as the proper investigation and process is done. A&M can't just boot someone without following the required procedure.

I dont think most of these people really have any real-world ties to their world views. They just gleaned it from the internet, which is unfortunate.

I guess Im trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, which I'm uncertain that they deserve.

I was 16 when 9/11 happened and it was shocking enough. I never thought that we'd have kids matriculated at A&M that were openly anti-jew and supporting Hamas.

That, for me, and all of us I suppose, sucks. But here they go again, with their own words. Hard to spin that.

I do think if someone wants to post that 'all Jews should be deported' on a message board without calling for violence against them or personal slurs and attacks should be allowed.

It is their opinion. So what? I will vehemently disagree with them and I will then begin to defend with certain points why I disagree with them.

The issue is you equate being a Jew with being a Muslim as the same. They are not absolutely they are not.

Their only stance is anti-conservative. They don't have any real views of their own. If Trump or whoever is pro-Israel, then they are anti-Israel. It's as simple as that.

Pretty much. I got permabanned from a city planning subreddit for defining "AFAB" in a way that wasn't trans-affirming. And from another subreddit for saying racist things like Black people would be better-liked if they committed less crime.

No one has said the Gestapo had come to College Station.

And it wasn't his " inflammatory political related speech" as to why he should be kicked out. It would be for intentionally harassing other students. His reasons for it are irrelevant.

If he had stood around in the Academic Plaza, held up a sign, and made his dumb little speech, he would get mocked online for it, but he wouldn't be punished because that would be protected speech. The exception would be if he made open threats against others during said speech.

His activity was out of line. He deserves some sort of punishment.

But he wasn't just randomly accosting students wearing a star of david or yarmulke on campus. They set up a booth in the msc in order to generate discussion. You do that and you open yourself up to people "discussing" things with you that might have the opposite viewpoint. You can't set up a booth like that and demand that only people that agree with your viewpoint are allowed to come over there.

And again because I know that it is coming again from the disingenuous crowd…. this guy took it WAY too far.

Instead of acting like a total imbecile, maybe he could have tried to have a civilized debate. Maybe if he spoke to those guys, they may have said that they support Israelis right to exist, but don't agree with the current government.

The problem is (and I've said this before) that everything is binary for so many people now. There's usually shades of grey but by attacking them, calling them baby killer supporters and using other ******ed inflammatory language, he'll never know.

Then again, he likely doesn't actually care. Posting it online will get him a ton of 'likes' which, for Cock Wombles like Ginger Beard Jr, give them a nice dopamine hit. Probably the only way he gets any finding its way to his tiny brain.

That wasn't a "discussion". It was a digital ambush. It was heckling and mocking.

Student groups of every viewpoint should be able to set up a booth in the Memorial Student Center (which is supposed to be a respected place named in honor of many who actually fought real fascism) and not have to be subjected to that kind of behavior.

Students have been kicked out for lesser reasons.

Texas Aggies don't treat each other that way.

If they deem he crossed that line and the punishment could include discipline up to expulsion then he's subject to what the university decides. To me it's not a free speech or protected speech issue. It's a behavior issue.

I'm not taking a position one way or the other or legitimizing leftist tactics just to be clear. I don't really know what the schools rules are on this type stuff.

Just saying that if the university has rules against the verbal harassment of other students then that's is what this guy will be judged on (the behavior) not so much what he said. Just my opinion.
