Nah. I think Rubio appears to a wider base of voters.

Well, he's on TV more, so....duh!

Ha! Corrected.

Give me Desantis, but depending on how the next couple of years go, Rubio would be a great choice as well. I'm not high on Vance as POTUS, though I think he's been a good VP.

Desantis will have the benefit of not being tied to Trump's negatives as much.

of course I would love DeSantis

I was in the original DeSantis Brigade here on F16 and took a lot of flak for that.

but I think electorally Marco is a better more natural politician and with his background and experience can win.

DeSantis should really be on the Supreme Court replacing Clarence Thomas

Maybe after he serves eight years in the White House. He's imminently qualified to be President. He's both strategic in his thinking and a fantastic tactician. He would slay the Democrats if given a chance, just like he has in Florida.

My fear is that the hard core Trump supporters will never forgive him for running against Trump in 2024. It would be about par for the course.

Sorry, I'm catching up late but have to step in here.

"strategic in his thinking and a fantastic tactician"

His decision to run against Trump in 2024 shows such a lack of political instinct that it is disqualifying.

My preference would be, in order DeSantis, Vance, Rubio.

It takes a different guy to be a leader as opposed to a smart and capable staff officer. Both are necessary for the success of the enterprise, but Rubio has never governed or led others. DeSantis might be the best governor of any state in US history.

Chuuuuch! </Snoop voice>

I agree with your sentiment -

but how can you state Rubio has not led others?!?!

Rubio was LITERALLY SPEAKER of the Florida House of Representatives!

Meaning he was in charge of the entire Republican majority caucus of their legislature!

Rubio is currently the Secretary of State leading a Department with 80,214 employees!

The Florida Speaker of the House is the presiding officer of the House of Representatives, responsible for leading the chamber, setting the legislative agenda, appointing committee members, and managing the legislative process. As the top leader, the Speaker influences key policy issues like healthcare, property insurance, and state infrastructure

Nonsense.

A healthy primary is a good thing.

I would be happy to see Rubio, Vance, Desantis, and three or so more run in 2028. They will be better candidates for the general for having done so and better leaders should they be elected.

I like all 3, but man, Rubio has REALLY been impressive as SecState. Great communicator, displays strength and leadership and the ability to successfully manage a lot of high stress, complicated issues simultaneously.

Will absolutely lock up the Hispanic vote.

I've always been a big fan of Desantis, but this last short-lived presidential campaign was less than impressive.

His ability to run a government as it's chief executive is unquestionable, but I'm not sure his personality comes across as something that would appeal to a large group of people on a national level. A bit Casper milk-toastish and somewhat low energy.

Vance scores low on the likability scale. Regardless of policy or performance I think people just don't like the guy. Plus it isn't 1862, he should lose the beard. When was the last time a bearded candidate won the presidency?

I like Vance a lot, but I think the beard actually helps cover up his pudgy baby face. Some men ljust ook way better/more masculine with a beard.

It sucks that this country is so shallow when it comes to the most important job in the world.

Imagine how little "swagger" or "flashiness" was a factor back around the time of the founding of our country. Of course, that was before the 19th Amendment. Women, in general, tend to be much more shallow and petty when it comes to picking the person to lead the free world, so charisma is an absolute must nowadays. A large % of women would vote for a genocidal marxist if he was "cute" and "cool" enough.

I agree, but it is what it is.

With the advent of television, and now the internet and social media, charisma takes a paramount position in electing candidates for office.

If Karl Rove and the Bush crew are backing someone, that's my cue to run the other way. And don't forget: Marco Rubio was part of the Gang of Eight.
That group pushed the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act the bill everyone called amnesty.
Gang of Eight:
Dems: Schumer, Durbin, Bennet, Menendez
Reps: Rubio, McCain, Graham, Flake
The bill had a path to citizenship, new visa programs, expanded EVerify the whole package. The House torched it, and Rubio tried to pretend he wasn't really involved.
Still makes you think.

What is Trump doing exactly to put America first? War in Iran no one wants, inflation has gotten higher since he took office

More than likely he has ended or massively reduced the chance of all of us eventually being killed by the dirty SOBs whose mission in their pathetic, fanatical lives is to do just end us.

Anyone with a brain in their head sees how dedicated they were to the cause of enhancing their military capabilities. It's what they do and virtually ALL they do in the name of Allah. A direct attack on America has only been delayed due to their physical inability to do so.

Your Democrats and many prior Republican leaders have talked tough about taking action for years on end, but only one guy had the stones to rain the thunderous hell down on them.

Of course there's a small price to pay in the short term which looks to already be turning around possibly.

Ps - sorry she lost.
I don't think you know me.

Depending on how the next few years go we might very well see a "major player" in the GOP, who has sights on the WH, sit it out in 28'. If the perception is that the election will be a lost cause Rubio or De Santis might go strategic and sit it out hoping that 32' offers a better playing field. Rubio would be 61 in 32' and DeSantis would be 54 so they can wait. Vance, on the other hand, given his position and relationship might not see this as a real option.

I'll take his proven track record over the last 4 months over some suppositions about who he aligned with when John McCain was still alive.
