yes it is CNN, but it is undeniable that electorally JD Vance will lose (it is very hard to win a third term from the same party in the first place)

and that Marco is SUBSTANTIVELY a superior candidate and more experienced to be POTUS

Give me Desantis, but depending on how the next couple of years go, Rubio would be a great choice as well. I'm not high on Vance as POTUS, though I think he's been a good VP.

Desantis will have the benefit of not being tied to Trump's negatives as much.

I like Marco a lot but it's impossible to extrapolate April 2026 polling to November 2028 elections. That result is wholly irrelevant to what ends up happening if Vance the candidate. It doesn't even account for who the Democrats nominate and right now their entire field is an unmitigated disaster.

Its hard to see little marco as president.

I don't think a net popularity poll 2.5 years before an election is something anyone should take seriously.

If you want to start a discussion of who the better Republican nominee for 2028 will be then you need to list swing states and why one candidate will perform better than the other there.

What was Trump's net popularity 2.5 years before the 2024 election? Way too early to draw any conclusions.

The left is pressing HARD against Vance. That should tell you he's the best candidate BY FAR.

I'd love to see Lil Marco nominated, I think JD plays way too much footsie with the woke right, but I can't see a scenario in which Trump leads with Marco over JD.

I didn't know there were still Desantis people left...

With all due respect, you also told us DeSantis better be the nominee or else in 2024!

No one wields executive power with the efficiency of DeSantis.

He flat out gets S*** done.

I would love to see him as POTUS or maybe AG, where he can finish cleaning out the FBI and CIA.

As for Vance, if he wants to be POTUS, he needs to focus like a laser beam on entitlement fraud.

If he somehow gets a few important perp walks and eliminates a ton of fraud, he will be the frontrunner by far.

Or, he could *****foot around and not get anything done on that front.

Frankly, if he wastes that opportunity, I wouldn't really want to back him for POTUS in 2028, either.

I like DeSantis the most of the guys mentioned on this thread, but do not think that he has the temperament/charisma necessary to win.

Vance scores low on the likability scale. Regardless of policy or performance I think people just don't like the guy. Plus it isn't 1862, he should lose the beard. When was the last time a bearded candidate won the presidency?

I think Marco or Ron would make EXCELLENT presidents for our country.

That's why I'm sure neither of them will be on the final ballot, lol. We aren't allowed to have good choices.

The people won't need to bother picking them, the RNC decision makers can just appoint whoever they want. Oh wait that's the Democrat party never mind.

DeSantis doesn't have the personality and Vance isn't popular or likable, due to the press telling us so. If Rubio starts to gain any traction they'll convince us he's both of those things too.

Any of these 3 guys would be great for America.

I don't think you know me.

of course I would love DeSantis

I was in the original DeSantis Brigade here on F16 and took a lot of flak for that.

but I think electorally Marco is a better more natural politician and with his background and experience can win.

DeSantis should really be on the Supreme Court replacing Clarence Thomas

DeSantis or Rubio would be a great president but I think Rubio would appeal to more on the campaign trail even with some of the negative association with moderates from being tied to Trump. No one, including JD will be able to energize the MAGA base anywhere near the level of Trump though

Maybe after he serves eight years in the White House. He's imminently qualified to be President. He's both strategic in his thinking and a fantastic tactician. He would slay the Democrats if given a chance, just like he has in Florida.

My fear is that the hard core Trump supporters will never forgive him for running against Trump in 2024. It would be about par for the course.

Plenty of people had trouble debating Trump because they were trying to debate the way normal politicians would debate while Trump was making up nicknames and generally arguing like a 3rd grader. It worked, because it completely threw them off and no one knew how to respond. But I think he'd be fine in a debate without Trump involved.

I actually am really excited about the prospects of 2028 assuming it's Rubio, Vance or DeSantis. Of course knowing our luck we'll get stuck with Don Jr.

This.

Unless the economy is better than it ever was, Vance has less chance of winning than anyone tied to Trump.

DeSantis is Trump without the tweets, baggage, infidelity, abhorrent behavior, etc., etc.

PLUS, he actually got things done in his state without having to "SO MUCH WINNING!!" EOs. That means he knows how to work the system (see establishment) to his advantage.

Marco would be great as well, but again, unless the economy is great, DeSantis has the best chance of actually beating the Dem nominee. He'll be at even greater odds if the Dem is Gavin.

Marco is building up a hell of a resume as we speak of real executive management and diplomacy. He's my pick as of right now if I had to knee jerk an answer and it isn't particularly close.

DeSantis on the ticket would be great too but as the running mate. I simply think he is too polarizing to pull off a victory as a lead.

I'm out on Vance.

I share your opinions here. He's really very effective if you look at his record, but that is not what wins elections, unfortunately.

I do think he has a huge role to play in DC, though, and it should be in the executive branch somewhere.

With his JAG experience, AG would be a good spot.

I think that DeSantis as "fraud Czar" would absolutely wreck shop, and wind up with either a lot of arrests or him getting assassinated.

Rubio also got beat up by Christie.

The issue with someone being too polished is that they come off as inauthentic. If Rubio can hold his own off the cuff, he has a decent chance.

That said, I'd prefer DeSantis due to his Executive resume.
